The gas crisis of 2022 put pressure on electricity prices in Europe, prompting the Swiss government to launch a national energy-saving campaign. To effectively quantify potential savings and guide timely decision-making, this campaign called for rigorous n ...

The auxiliary power supply for medium voltage converters requires high insulation capability between the source and the load. Inductive power transfer technology, with an air gap between the primary and secondary coil, offers such high insulation capabilit ...

Situational awareness strategies are essential for the reliable and secure operation of the electric power grid which represents critical infrastructure in modern society. With the rise of converter-interfaced renewable generation and the consequent shift ...

Implanted medical devices (IMDs) have been widely developed to support the monitoring and recording of biological data inside the body or brain. Wirelessly powered IMDs, a subset of implantable electronics, have been proposed to eliminate the limitations r ...

The electrification of private mobility is becoming a popular solution to reduce the reliance on fossil fuels. However, uncontrollable charging of a large electric vehicle fleet challenges the distribution grid due to transmission bottlenecks, voltage limi ...

High-temperature electrolysis for reducing H2O (and CO2) to H2 (and CO) converts concentrated solar energy into fuels and chemical feedstock. We invented an integrated reactor concept comprising a solar cavity receiver for reactant heating, a solid oxide e ...

This paper proposes a Voltage Stability Index (VSI) suitable for unbalanced polyphase power systems. To this end, the grid is represented by a polyphase multiport network model (i.e., hybrid parameters), and the aggregate behavior of the devices in each no ...

Dual active bridge (DAB) is a topology that is receiving more and more attention as a potential solution to interface dc grids of different voltage levels. From a system level, the implications of DABs on the stability of complex power systems are addresse ...
