Formally verifying the correctness of software is necessary to merit the trust people put in software systems. Currently, formal verification requires human effort to prove that a piece of code matches its specification and code changes to improve verifiab ...

Genome-wide chromatin conformation capture assays provide formidable insights into the spatial organization of genomes. However, due to the complexity of the data structure, their integration in multi-omics workflows remains challenging. We present data st ...

Context. A novel high-performance exact pair-counting toolkit called fast correlation function calculator (FCFC) is presented.Aims. With the rapid growth of modern cosmological datasets, the evaluation of correlation functions with observational and simula ...

Type systems usually characterize the shape of values but not their free variables. However, many desirable safety properties could be guaranteed if one knew the free variables captured by values. We describe CC

Formally verifying the correctness of software network functions (NFs) is necessary for network reliability, yet existing techniques require full source code and mandate the use of specific data structures. We describe an automated technique to verify NF b ...

As it has become easier and cheaper to collect big datasets in the last few decades, designing efficient and low-cost algorithms for these datasets has attracted unprecedented attention. However, in most applications, even storing datasets as acquired has ...

This paper develops high-order accurate entropy stable (ES) adaptive moving mesh finite difference schemes for the two- and three-dimensional special relativistic hydrodynamic (RHD) and magnetohydrodynamic (RMHD) equations, which is the high-order accurate ...

Application of the isogeometric method is illustrated for free and forced vibration analyzes of sinusoidally corrugated functionally graded carbon nanotube reinforced composite (FG-CNTRC) thin panels. These panels can be used as a potential structure for m ...

Modern information technologies and human-centric communication systems employ advanced content representations for richer portrayals of the real world. The newly adopted imaging modalities offer additional information cues and permit the depiction of real ...

Point cloud is a promising imaging modality for the representation of 3D media. The vast volume of data associated with it requires efficient compression solutions, with lossy algorithms leading to larger bit-rate savings at the expense of visual impairmen ...

In order to get a better understanding of the interaction of plasma microinstabilities and associated turbulence with specific modes, an antenna is implemented in the global gyrokinetic Particle-In-Cell (PIC) code ORB5. It consists in applying an external ...

New types of metamaterials and architectured material require metallic materials with precise structural design in the microscale. However, additivemanufacturing of metallic structures in themicroscale has proven difficult, as the demand for the material q ...

In this paper we revisit the kernel density estimation problem: given a kernel K(x, y) and a dataset of n points in high dimensional Euclidean space, prepare a data structure that can quickly output, given a query q, a (1 + epsilon)-approximation to mu := ...

We present the design and implementation of Vigor, a software stack and toolchain for building and running software network middleboxes that are guaranteed to be correct, while preserving competitive performance and developer productivity. Developers write ...

Modern rendering systems are confronted with a dauntingly large and growing set of requirements: in their pursuit of realism, physically based techniques must increasingly account for intricate properties of light, such as its spectral composition or polar ...

A method for generating a data structure to digitally represent a geometrical object based on H-splines, the method being performed on a computer device having a data processor and memory, the method including the steps of creating a first data structure a ...

Non-Volatile Memory offers the possibility of implementing high-performance, durable data structures. However, achieving performance comparable to well-designed data structures in non-persistent (transient) memory is difficult, primarily because of the cos ...

We consider an adaptive isogeometric method (AIGM) based on (truncated) hierarchical B-splines and present the study of its numerical properties. By following [10, 12, 11], optimal convergence rates of the AIGM can be proved when suitable approximation cla ...

Numerical simulation of Pelton turbine hydrodynamics is helpful to identify the energy loss mechanisms in the runner and minimize their effect. However, it is a challenging task that involves handling the unsteady free surface flow and moving boundaries re ...

This work proposes a new direction in structural design: the synthesis of structures through the reuse of elements. Reusing structural elements reduces the environmental impacts of building structures because it avoids sourcing new material, it reduces was ...
