Membrane-electrode-assembly (MEA)-based CO electrolysis (COE) has demonstrated the capability to produce C2+ products with high faradaic efficiency at ampere-level current densities. However, most studies on COE have achieved performance benchmarks under s ...

Electrolytic hydrogen is identified as a crucial component in the desired decarbonisation of the chemical industry, utilizing renewable energy to split water into hydrogen and oxygen. Water electrolysis still requires important scientific advances to impro ...

Direct light olefin synthesis from CO2 hydrogenation is a new pathway to decarbonize the chemical industry. Inspired by the promising catalytic activity of Ga2O3-based catalysts in alkane dehydrogenation, this study reveals that optimizing Ga content in th ...

We investigate rapid thermal processing (RTP) as alternative to the prolonged thermal annealing process used to form tunnel-oxide passivating contacts for silicon solar cells. The thermal treatment is generally followed by hydrogenation to passivate defect ...

The continuous growth of the electronics industry requires a reevaluation of traditional materials and manufacturing techniques to address the rising issue of electronic waste (e‐waste). Environmental monitoring devices, which provide valuable insights int ...

While the accurate description of redox reactions remains a challenge for first-principles calculations, it has been shown that extended Hubbard functionals (DFT+U+V) can provide a reliable approach, mitigating self-interaction errors, in materials with st ...

Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cell (SOEC) has attracted considerable attention for its potential scalability and high energy conversion efficiency. It is capable of electrolyzing both H2O and CO2 simultaneously, generating syngas that can be further synthesized ...

Electroreduction of nitrate to ammonia provides an interesting pathway for wastewater treatment and valorization. Cu-based catalysts are active for the conversion of NO3− to NO2− but suffer from an inefficient hydrogenation process of NO2−. Herein, CuxO/N- ...

Tremendous efforts have been made in developing highly selective catalysts for electrochemical CO 2 conversion to formate. However, the rapid deactivation resulting from structural reconstruction and phase transition poses considerable challenges to the sy ...

Bandgap-tuneable mixed-halide 3D perovskites are of interest for multi-junction solar cells, but suffer from photoinduced spatial halide segregation. Mixed-halide 2D perovskites are more resistant to halide segregation and are promising coatings for 3D per ...

In the context of perovskite solar cells (PSCs), enhancing device performance often involves adding a small excess of lead iodide (PbI2) to the precursor solution. However, the presence of unreacted PbI2 can lead to accelerated degradation compromising lon ...

A systematic investigation on the photoelectrocatalytic (PEC) performance of a series of CuW1-xMoxO4 materials with different Mo for W substitution (x = 0-0.8), successfully synthesized as single, transparent photoactive layers, allowed us to identify copp ...

We report a simple and effective method for producing lanthanide ion-doped lithium-fluoride-based nanocrystals (YLiF4). We utilized those nanoparticles for up-conversion in fabricated perovskite solar cells. The obtained results shows that the up-conversio ...

Efficient and robust n-i-p perovskite solar cells necessitate superior organic hole-transport materials with both mechanical and electronic prowess. Deciphering the structure-property relationship of these materials is crucial for practical perovskite sola ...

The technique of alloying FA+ with Cs+ is often used to promote structural stabilization of the desirable alpha-FAPbI3 phase in halide perovskite devices. However, the precise mechanisms by which these alloying approaches improve the optoelectronic quality ...

Silicon heterojunction (SHJ)-solar modules-when encapsulated with ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA)-are known to be extremely sensitive to water ingress. The reason for this is, however, not clear. Here, we explain the root causes of this degradation mechanism ...

In this work, we studied the potential of using thin films deposited by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) for two main purposes: introducing an n-type passivating contact at the front of a TOPCon solar cell, or simplifying the fabrication o ...

A widely used component of high-efficiency perovskite solar cells (PSCs) is the molecular hole-transport material (HTM) spiro-OMeTAD. This organic solid needs to be p-doped to acquire sufficient hole conductivity. However, the conventional doping method us ...

Plasmonic photochemistry has a large potential to replace energy-intensive chemical processes with low-temperature, low-pressure light-driven chemical reactions. Plasmonic nanostructures have emerged as promising photocatalysts with exceptional and tunable ...
