We study quantum field theories which have quantum groups as global internal symmetries. We show that in such theories operators are generically non-local, and should be thought as living at the ends of topological lines. We describe the general constraint ...

We consider a conservation law with strictly positive wave velocity and study the well-posedness of a suitable notion of solution for the associated initial value problem under a flux constraint active in the half-line R+. The strict positivity of the wave ...

A measurement of the ratio of branching fractions (Formula presented) in the (Formula presented), (Formula presented) decay channel is presented. This measurement uses a sample of proton-proton collision data collected at a center-of-mass energy of (Formul ...

Gruber et al. (2022) offered a framework how to explain "Physical time within human time", solving the 'two times problem: Here, I am asking whether such a problem exists at all. To question the question, I will appeal to neurobiological, evolutionary, and ...

We perform Monte-Carlo measurements of two and three-point functions of charged operators in the critical O(2) model in 3 dimensions. Our results are compatible with the predictions of the large charge superfluid effective field theory. To obtain reliable ...

Using e(+)e(-) collision data collected by the BESIII detector at BEPCII corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 30 fb(-1), we measure Born cross sections and effective form factors for the process e(+)e(-)-> Xi(0)(Xi) over bar (0) at forty-five cente ...

The first search for soft unclustered energy patterns (SUEPs) is performed using an integrated luminosity of 138 fb(-1) of proton-proton collision data at root s = 13 TeV, collected in 2016-2018 by the CMS detector at the LHC. Such SUEPs are predicted by h ...

Given two elliptic curves and the degree of an isogeny between them, finding the isogeny is believed to be a difficult problem—upon which rests the security of nearly any isogeny-based scheme. If, however, to the data above we add information about the beh ...

The Future Circular Collider (FCC-hh) is a proposed successor of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). FCC-hh would push both the energy and intensity frontiers of searches for new physics particles. In particular, due to higher energy and luminosity than at th ...

We consider the effective interaction of quarks with a new GeV-scale vector particle that couples to electroweak gauge bosons by the so-called effective Chern-Simons (CS) interaction. We call this particle the CS boson. We construct effective Lagrangian of ...

In this thesis, we propose model order reduction techniques for high-dimensional PDEs that preserve structures of the original problems and develop a closure modeling framework leveraging the Mori-Zwanzig formalism and recurrent neural networks. Since high ...

A search for physics beyond the standard model (SM) in the final state with a hadronically decaying tau lepton and a neutrino is presented. This analysis is based on data recorded by the CMS experiment from proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass ener ...

This thesis presents a search for a beyond the Standard Model (SM) heavy neutral lepton (HNL), which does not interact via any of the SM interactions. This hypothetical particle has been proposed by multiple theories as an extension to the SM, and it could ...

Submodular functions are a widely studied topic in theoretical computer science. They have found several applications both theoretical and practical in the fields of economics, combinatorial optimization and machine learning. More recently, there have also ...

Pearl's do calculus is a complete axiomatic approach to learn the identifiable causal effects from observational data. When such an effect is not identifiable, it is necessary to perform a collection of often costly interventions in the system to learn the ...

We determine the contribution of long-range pion interactions to the X(3872) dynamics, assuming it is a loosely bound D-0(D) over bar*(0) molecule. Our result is based on the distorted wave Born approximation in non-relativistic quantum mechanics. Despite ...

The tension between different determinations of the CKM matrix element Vub using measurements of either exclusive or inclusive semileptonic decays represents a long-standing puzzle in flavour physics. To resolve this, measurements of new exclusive channels ...

This thesis presents a measurement of charm mixing and CP-violation parameters using D0 -> K0S pi+ pi- decays. These mixing parameters include the mass and decay-width differences of the mass eigenstates of the D0-D0bar system. A search for Charge-Parity v ...

This study investigated the impact of participating in a year-long digital-fabrication course on high-school seniors' problem-solving skills, with a focus on problems involving mechanistic systems. The research questions centered on whether working in a ma ...

The time-dependent CP asymmetries of B-0 -> pi(+)pi(-) and B-s(0) -> K+K- decays are measured using a data sample of pp collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.9 fb(-1), collected with the LHCb detector at a centre-of-mass energy of 13TeV ...
