Accurate and reproducible color characterization is essential for colored building integrated photovoltaic products, both for manufacturing quality control and assessing long-term color stability. However, existing characterization techniques struggle to a ...

With the increase in massive digitized datasets of cultural artefacts, social and cultural scientists have an unprecedented opportunity for the discovery and expansion of cultural theory. The WikiArt dataset is one such example, with over 250,000 high qual ...

JPEG XL is a practical, royalty-free codec for scalable web distribution and efficient compression of high-quality photographs. It also includes previews, progressiveness, animation, transparency, high dynamic range, wide color gamut, and high bit depth. U ...

This paper presents the combined effect of indoor temperature (19 degrees C, 22 degrees C, and 26 degrees C) and colored glazing (blue, orange, and neutral) on visual perception of daylight. Experiments were performed in an office-like test room, in which ...

We present a versatile technique to convert textures with tristimulus colors into the spectral domain, allowing such content to be used in modern rendering systems. Our method is based on the observation that suitable reflectance spectra can be represented ...

Physically based spectral rendering has become increasingly important in recent years. However, asset textures in such systems are usually still drawn or acquired as RGB tristimulus values. While a number of RGB to spectrum upsampling techniques are availa ...

A novel method is proposed in the scope of image segmentation that solves this problem by breaking it into two main blocks. The first block's functionality is a method to anticipate the color basis of each segment in segmented images. One of the challenges ...

Since 1895, when the Lumière brothers came out with the projected cinematograph, motion pictures and more generally multimedia contents have considerably improved and are still experiencing a very dynamic development. Advances involved improving various mo ...

New emerging technologies in the field of multimedia, such as high dynamic range and wide color gamut, challenge the performance of existing image and video data processing algorithms, especially in terms of visual data compression and its faithful represe ...

Ultra High Definition (UHD) and High Definition (HD) Television standard recommendations support different color gamuts with the HD gamut much smaller than that of the UHD one. To adapt UHD content to the restricted gamut of HD televisions, a process known ...

We introduce an image reproduction model that retargets colors for printing purposes to ensure similar luminance perception under photopic and scotopic vision. Our model is based on the physiological functioning of the rod and cone cells in the retina in v ...

Convolutional neural networks are top-performers on image classification tasks. Understanding how they make use of color information in images may be useful for various tasks. In this paper we analyze the representation learned by a popular CNN to detect a ...

Laminated and etched glazing unit for architectural integration of solar energy systems comprising a substrate delimited by two main faces and a multi-layered interference filter also delimited by two main faces, one main face of said substrate being adapt ...

The color gamut supported by current commercial displays is only a subset of the full spectrum of colors visible by the human eye. In High-Definition (HD) television technology, the scope of the supported colors covers 35.9% of the full visible gamut. For ...

High bit depth data acquisition and manipulation have been largely studied at the academic level over the last 15 years and are rapidly attracting interest at the industrial level. An example of the increasing interest for high-dynamic range (HDR) imaging ...

Printing on a flat metallic substrate has gained popularity in recent years. The reflection of light on a specularly reflecting metallic substrate differs strongly from the reflection of light on a diffusely reflecting medium such as paper. Direct prints o ...

We propose new methods for creating color or achromatic images that are printed with classical cyan, magenta, yellow and a white diffusing ink on a metallic substrate. We optimize the surface coverages of the cyan, magenta, yellow and white inks in order t ...

Artists often want to change the colors of an image to achieve a particular aesthetic goal. For example, they might limit colors to a warm or cool color scheme to create an image with a certain mood or feeling. Gamut masking is a technique that artists use ...

We propose a method for creating authenticable color images under UV excitation backlight by printing an invisible luminescent white emissive ink layer on the verso side of a transmissive substrate and a classical cmy image on the recto side of the substra ...

In a color reproduction workflow, spectral prediction models are useful for establishing the correspondence between colorant sur- face coverages and resulting printed halftone color. Spectral predic- tion models enable calculation of the color gamut and es ...
