We review key measurements performed by CMS in the context of its heavy ion physics program, using event samples collected in 2010-2018 with several collision systems and energies. These studies provide detailed macroscopic and microscopic probes of the qu ...

A search for long-lived heavy neutral leptons (HNLs) using proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb−1 collected at s = 13 TeV with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC is presented. Events are selected with a charged lep ...

Abstract: The radiative decays χc1(3872) → ψ(2S) γ and χc1(3872) → J/ψγ are used to probe the nature of the χc1(3872) state using proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1. Using the ...

The first observation of the decay Xi(-)(b) -> psi(2S)Xi(-) and measurement of the branching ratio of Xi(-)(b) -> psi(2S)Xi(-) to Xi(-)(b) -> J/psi Xi(-) are presented. The J/psi and psi(2S) mesons are reconstructed using their dimuon decay modes. The resu ...

A method is presented to reconstruct charged particles with lifetimes between 10ps and 10ns, which considers a combination of their decay products and the partial tracks created by the initial charged particle. Using the Ξ- baryon as a benchmark, the metho ...

We present a measurement of the integrated luminosity of e(+) e(-) collision data collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at a center-of-mass energy of E-cm = 3.773 GeV. The integrated luminosities of the datasets taken from December 2021 t ...

Correlations of same-sign charged pions are analysed using proton-lead collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at a nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass energy of 5.02TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.06 nb(-1). Bose-Einstein correlatio ...

A search for KS(L)0→μ+μ-μ+μ- decays is performed using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.1 fb-1. No evidence for signal is found. The 90% conf ...

The first observation and study of two new baryonic structures in the final state Ξ0bπ+π− and the confirmation of the Ξb(6100)− state in the Ξ−bπ+π− decay mode are reported using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding ...

An amplitude analysis of B0 -> J=psi phi K0S decays is performed using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb-1, collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. Evidence with a signi ...

New detectors for future high-energy physics experiments will operate under unprecedented radiation dose rates. This condition requires improved radiation resistance on detector equipment. The consequent development of new materials, particularly optical m ...

A measurement of the ratios of the effective decay widths of D-0 -> pi(-)pi(+) and D-0 -> K- K+ decays over that of D-0 -> K-pi(+) decays is performed with the LHCb experiment using proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, correspondi ...

A search is presented for a right-handed W boson (W-R) and a heavy neutrino (N), in a final state consisting of two same-flavor leptons (ee or mu mu) and two quarks. The search is performed with the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC using a data sample of pro ...

A search has been performed for heavy resonances decaying to ZZ or ZW and for axion-like particles (ALPs) mediating nonresonant ZZ or ZH production, in final states with two charged leptons (l = e, mu) produced by the decay of a Z boson, and two quarks pro ...

Mesons comprising a beauty quark and strange quark can oscillate between particle (B-s(0)) and antiparticle (B-s(-0)) flavour eigenstates, with a frequency given by the mass difference between heavy and light mass eigenstates, Delta m(s). Here we present a ...

The production cross section of a top quark pair in association with a photon is measured in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The data set, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137 fb(-1), was recorded by the CMS exper ...

We discuss how LHC di-muon data collected to study B-q -> mu mu can be used to constrain light particles with flavour-violating couplings to b-quarks. Focussing on the case of a flavoured QCD axion, a, we compute the decay rates for B-q -> mu mu a and the ...
