This thesis investigates the potential of gallium phosphide (GaP) as a platform for advanced integrated photonic devices, leveraging its exceptional optical properties. Significant advantages over traditional materials like silicon nitride (Si3N4) are offe ...

We report the development of a continuous-wave and pulsed X-band electron spin resonance (ESR) spectrometer for the study of spins on ordered surfaces down to cryogenic temperatures. The spectrometer operates in ultra-high vacuum and utilizes a half-wavele ...

Plasmonic photochemistry has a large potential to replace energy-intensive chemical processes with low-temperature, low-pressure light-driven chemical reactions. Plasmonic nanostructures have emerged as promising photocatalysts with exceptional and tunable ...

129Xe dissolution dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) is a controversial topic. The gold standard technique for hyperpolarized xenon magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is spin exchange optical pumping, which received FDA approval in 2022. Nevertheless, the ve ...

A comprehensive multiscale modeling framework for photon recycling in textured solar cells and LEDs is introduced, treating light absorption and emission on an equal footing under consideration of the full internal mode spectrum in the device. The framewor ...

This paper presents a new method and structure to suppress unwanted interference in conventional Global Positioning System (GPS) applications. In contrast to traditional antennas that usually utilize high-impedance structures with limited enhancement or th ...

We investigate the magnetic structure and magnetoelectric(ME) effect in the high -field phase of the antiferromagnet LiFePO 4 above the critical field of 31 T. A neutron diffraction study in pulsed magnetic fields reveals the propagation vector to be q = 0 ...

Electrochemical reduction of CO2 (CO2RR) is an attractive technology to reintegrate the anthropogenic CO2 back into the carbon cycle driven by a suitable catalyst. This study employs highly efficient multi-carbon (C2+) producing Cu2O nanocubes (NCs) decora ...

The properties of a physical system only exist in relation to its environment. This thesis presents the development of a novel spin qubit scanning probe microscope operating over a wide range of environmental conditions. The qubit, which sits at the heart ...

In this thesis, we discuss the problems of scattering and optical manipulation related to nanosystems of different complexities. The multipolar decomposition method is used to represent scattering processes in nanosystems as a series of elementary excitati ...

We study the plasmon modes of gold nanorods (as short as similar to 100 nm) on a nonmetallic conductive substrate using scanning tunneling microscope-induced light emission (STM-LE) with a nonplasmonic tungsten tip at room temperature in high vacuum (10-7 ...

A search is performed for narrow resonances decaying to final states of two jets, with at least one jet ffiffioriginating from a b quark, in proton-proton collisions at p s = 13 TeV. The data set corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb-1 collecte ...

Optical resonators enable the generation, manipulation, and storage of electromagnetic waves. The physics underlying their operation is determined by the interference of electromagnetic waves, giving rise to the resonance spectrum. This mechanism causes th ...

Impedance pumps are simple designs that allow the generation or amplification of flow. They are fluid-filled systems based on flexible tubing connected to tubing with different impedances. A periodic off-center compression of the flexible tubing causes the ...

A discharge with electron temperature up to 14 keV has been achieved in EAST. Analysis of the electron cyclotron current drive (ECCD) efficiency at high electron temperature under EAST parameters is presented using C3PO/LUKE code. Simulation results show t ...

Silicon Nitride (Si3N4) photonic integrated circuits (PICs) have emerged as core technology in a variety of applications ranging from LIDAR to quantum control and computing. However, the need for high-speed, low-voltage tuning and modulation has been a lon ...

Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) methods are powerful tools employed in many fields, including physics, chemistry, material science, biology, and medicine. The use of NMR methodologies in an even wider range of applications is often hindered by the relativ ...

Solid-state NMR can provide information about the atomic-level microstructure and dynamics in materials as it directly probes the local nuclear environment. In the last decade, halide perovskites have drawn intense interest because of their intriguing opto ...

Recent neutron-diffraction experiments in honeycomb CrI3 quasi-2D ferromagnets have evinced the existence of a gap at the Dirac point in their spin-wave spectra. The existence of this gap has been attributed to strong in-plane Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya or Kita ...

Low throughput is one of dissolution Dynamic Nuclear Polarization (dDNP) main shortcomings. Especially for clinical and preclinical applications, where direct 13C nuclei polarization is usually pursued, it takes hours to generate one single hyperpolarized ...
