Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide and the most common lung cancer subtype is lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). Frequently mutated genes involve activating mutations in KRAS and loss of function mutations in TP53. LUADs primarily ...

Dendritic cells (DCs) regulate immune priming by expressing programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) and PD-L2, which interact with the inhibitory receptor PD-1 on activated T cells. PD-1 signaling regulates T cell effector functions and limits autoimmunity. Tumo ...

Metastasis is the process by which cancer cells from the primary tumor travel through the blood stream to generate a secondary tumor site in a distant organ. Although very few cells are able to make this journey, the resulting effects are dire since most c ...

Pancreatic cancer cells with limited access to free amino acids can grow by scavenging extracellular protein. In a murine model of pancreatic cancer, we performed a genome-wide CRISPR screen for genes required for scavenging-dependent growth. The screen id ...

The present invention relates to methods and compositions which provide a companion diagnostic for cancer therapy. A method for identifying and stratifying a patient or group of patients with cancer as (i) being high or low for FMRP activity, (ii) having a ...

Glioblastoma (GBM) is poorly responsive to therapy and invariably lethal. One conceivable strategy to circumvent this intractability is to co-target distinctive mechanistic components of the disease, aiming to concomitantly disrupt multiple capabilities re ...

Activin-A, a transforming growth factor ê µ family member, is a pleiotropic cytokine with diverse functions in development, fertility, adult tissue homeostasis, and aging. Accordingly, deregulation of Activin-A signaling has been associated with many patho ...

Eosinophils are granulocytes and belong to the innate arm of immunity. Eosinophils can be in different basal or activation states and depending on which type of activation is applied, they exert different effector functions. These multi-functional cells ha ...

Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PanNET) comprise two molecular subtypes, relatively benign islet tumors (IT) and invasive, metastasis-like primary (MLP) tumors. Until now, the origin of aggressive MLP tumors has been obscure. Herein, using multi-omics ap ...

Cancer represents one of the major public health challenges worldwide, representing more than 25% of all deaths in the European Union in 2014. It affects a large and growing part of the general population, with the National Cancer Institute (NCI) estimatin ...

Compared to estrogen receptor-negative (ER-) breast cancer (BC), ER+ BC often manifests with a latent disease that recurs decades after initial diagnosis. The mechanisms governing dormancy and distant recurrence of ER+ tumors remain elusive due to the lack ...

Nearly all the cells of an organism share the same DNA sequence or genome, and yet they show different phenotypes and carry out different functions. This diversity is made possible by a verity of molecular modifications acting on the DNA sequence that coll ...

Lung cancers represent the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. These pulmonary cancers count several histological subgroups, whose non-small cell lung cancers, subject of our study. We were precisely interested in the most common subtype of n ...

Simple Summary Breast cancer stem cells are a subset of transformed cells that sustain tumor growth and can metastasize to secondary organs. Since metastasis accounts for most cancer deaths, it is of paramount importance to understand the cellular and mole ...

Cancer is a major health burden worldwide and the leading cause of death in industrialized countries. Early detection is a primary factor of survival and remission rate. Classical imaging methods such as magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound imaging and m ...

Circadian clocks operative in pancreatic islets participate in the regulation of insulin secretion in humans and, if compromised, in the development of type 2 diabetes (T2D) in rodents. Here we demonstrate that human islet alpha- and beta-cells that bear a ...

Herein, we report that the TGF beta superfamily receptor ALK7 is a suppressor of tumorigenesis and metastasis, as revealed by functional studies in mouse models of pancreatic neuroendocrine and lumina! breast cancer, complemented by experimental metastasis ...

Background Long acquisition times and motion sensitivity limit T-2 mapping in the abdomen. Accelerated mapping at 3 T may allow for quantitative assessment of diffuse pancreatic disease in patients during free-breathing. Purpose To test the feasibility of ...

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-associated deaths worldwide. Platinum-based chemotherapy is the most common therapeutic approach in advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), particularly for tumors that carry non-druggable activating mutation ...

Cutaneous melanoma is one of the most aggressive cancers characterized by a high plasticity, a propensity for metastasis, and drug resistance. Melanomas are composed of phenotypically diverse subpopulations of tumor cells with heterogeneous molecular profi ...
