The development of a high current baseline scenario (I-p=3.5MA, q(95)approximate to 3.0, beta(N)

Two-plasmon decay instabilities (TPDIs) are a class of parametric instabilities where a gyrotron beam, polarized in X-mode, decays nonlinearly into two upper hybrid waves at approximately half frequency. Here, we present the design of a simple radiometer t ...

A dual-frequency gyrotron has been developed within the context of the recent Tokamak à Configuration Variable (TCV) upgrade. The gyrotron is designed to generate a 1 MW, 2 seconds RF wave at 84 or 126 GHz. Before integrating the gyrotrons in the TCV tokam ...

In tokamaks, plasma shape control is often achieved through a so-called isoflux approach that regulates the poloidal flux differences between a reference point and a set of control points and magnetic field values at suitable locations to obtain the desire ...

Combining the analysis of multiple diagnostics and well-chosen prior information in the framework of Bayesian probability theory, the Integrated Data Analysis code (IDA Fischer et al 2010 Fusion Sci. Technol. 58 675-84) can provide density and temperature ...

Bentonites are going to be part of the Engineered Barrier System (EBS) in deep geological disposal facilities for the safe disposal of spent nuclear fuel. Some of these repositories might be constructed in tectonically active locations, and some other repo ...

In Izzo et al (2022 Nucl. Fusion 62 096029), state-of-the-art modeling of thermal and current quench (CQ) magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) coupled with a self-consistent evolution of runaway electron (RE) generation and transport showed that a non-axisymmetric ( ...
