Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have garnered significant attention within the photovoltaic research community due to their remarkable progress in just one decade. Among the device configurations, the p-i-n structured PSC offers several advantages, including ...

Buildings are designed to respond to functional and regulatory needs, providing comfortable conditions to occupants, offering satisfactory environmental settings, minimising health risks, and enhancing individual and collective quality of life. Although th ...

Graph neural networks (GNNs) have demonstrated promising performance across various chemistry-related tasks. However, conventional graphs only model the pairwise connectivity in molecules, failing to adequately represent higher order connections, such as m ...

This study addresses the critical need for sustainable architectural designs within the context of climate change and the significant role the built environment plays in greenhouse gas emissions. The focus of this paper is on understanding the influence of ...

Distributed rooftop photovoltaics (PV) is one of the pillars of the energy transition yet their widespread integration strains grids, leading to over-voltage, reverse power flow, and infrastructure strain. Furthermore, increased PV self-consumption reduces ...

The recent geopolitical conflicts in Europe highlighted the sensibility of the current energy system to the volatility of energy carrier prices. In the prospect of defining robust energy system configurations to ensure energy supply stability, it is necess ...

Minimizing the power-specific iridium loading in polymer electrolyte water electrolysis (PEWE) is essential for the commercialization and upscaling of this technology. However, decreasing the iridium loading can severely affect performance and stability. M ...

In this work, we provide a mechanistic understanding of the degradation of perovskite solar cells in operation by focusing on methylammonium lead triiodide (CH3NH3PbI3 or MAPbI3) and tracking the evolution of electronic defects via photo-induced current tr ...

Following the 3rd release of the "Emerging PV reports", the best achievements in the performance of emerging photovoltaic (e-PV) devices in diverse e-PV research subjects are summarized, as reported in peer-reviewed articles in academic journals since Augu ...

This work proposes a method for optimal planning (sizing and siting) energy storage systems (ESSs) in power distribution grids while considering the option of curtailing photo-voltaic (PV) generation. More specifically, for a given PV generation capacity t ...

To assess the meaningfulness of installing solar photovoltaics in buildings and infrastructures, we consider a carbon intensity (CI) balance perspective and assess whether installing PV at different orientations acts as a net CO2 sink or source, when compa ...

Glass-free, lightweight, photovoltaic modules have the potential to enable new uses of solar in building integrated and vehicle integrated applications. Glass-free modules have the advantages of reduced weight, lower-cost mounting solutions, and reduced tr ...

Radon is a noble, natural, and radioactive gas coming mainly from the ground which might accumulate indoors and lead each year to 200-300 deaths from lung cancer in Switzerland. A brand new and innovative living lab will be built as of 2023 in Fribourg (Sw ...

With the energy transition and CO2 emissions reduction as a priority on the international policy agenda, governments worldwide are trying to engage the population in investing in renewable energies. In this paper, we study the role of information access an ...

Maximizing solar energy production in Switzerland is key to meet energy transition goals. Understanding in detail the current situation, and the potential for expansion is important to develop effective strategies. With this study, we want to contribute to ...

Solar energy is the most abundant energy source, harnessing solar energy holds the solution to the challenge of increasing global energy demand and reducing our dependence on fossil fuels. Photovoltaics which directly convert solar energy into electricity ...
