This study examines a novel Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) cogeneration system powered by liquefied natural gas integrating realistic and flexible heat management to support efficient maritime applications. With a nominal power capacity of 125 kW, the SOFC-b ...

Rock dissolution is a common subsurface geochemical reaction affecting pore space properties, crucial for reservoir stimulation, carbon storage, and geothermal energy. Predictive models for dissolution remain limited due to incomplete understanding of the ...

Data centers are large electricity consumers due to the high consumption needs of servers and their cooling systems. With the rapid growth of crypto-currency and artificial intelligence, their electricity consumption is expected to increase substantially. ...

Decarbonizing China's energy system requires both greening the power supply and electrifying end-use sectors. However, concerns exist that electrification may increase emissions while coal power dominates. Using a global climate model, we explore electrifi ...

As one of the largest industrial emitters, today's refineries must take action to reduce emissions in response to global climate change and net -zero targets. However, the decarbonization of refineries is complex due to the diverse range of processes invol ...

Pore topology and chemistry play crucial roles in the adsorption characteristics of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). To deepen our understanding of the interactions between MOFs and CO2 during this process, we systematically investigate the adsorption prop ...

The regulation of energy in the brain has garnered substantial attention in recent years due to its significant implications in various disorders and aging. The brain’s energy metabolism is a dynamic and tightly regulated network that balances energy deman ...

This paper first designs a holistic coordination framework between transmission system operator (TSO) and distribution system operators (DSOs) to modernize traditional top-to-down (from transmission system to distribution systems) power flexibility provisi ...

Artificial photosynthesis is an effective way of converting CO2 into fuel and high value-added chemicals. However, the sluggish interfacial electron transfer and adsorption of CO2 at the catalyst surface strongly hamper the activity and selectivity of CO2 ...

With the significant increase in photovoltaic (PV) electricity generation, more attention has been given to PV power forecasting. Indeed, accurate forecasting allows power grid operators to better schedule and dispatch their assets, such as energy storage ...

High entropy materials (HEMs) are highly effective as a catalyst and can be synthesized by facile methods. Here, we discuss recent advancements in HEMs for Hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), Oxygen evolution reaction (OER), and Oxygen reduction reaction (O ...

In light of Switzerland’s 2050 energy goals, the nation aims to boost its domestic hydroelectric output, notably focusing on small-scale hydroelectric power plants. Concurrently, there is an effort to renovate hydroelectric plants to make them more environ ...

Fuels from bio-based resources hold the potential to supply fossil fuel alternatives at reasonable economic and environmental expenses that can assist emission reduction in the transportation sector. However, apart from a general need to reduce fossil-base ...

Distributed rooftop photovoltaics (PV) is one of the pillars of the energy transition yet their widespread integration strains grids, leading to over-voltage, reverse power flow, and infrastructure strain. Furthermore, increased PV self-consumption reduces ...

Fossil fuels consumption is not expected to decrease significantly in the next decade, driving the atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration upward. Tremendous efforts have been made in the field of carbon capture with the development of porous material ads ...

We report on the preparation of MAPbBr(3) perovskite films of high electronic quality by applying a methylamine (MA) vapor treatment and mitigating surface defects using the amphiphilic molecular passivator, neopentylammonium chloride (NPACl). We find that ...

The cost of polymer electrolyte water electrolysis (PEWE) is dominated by the price of electricity used to power the water splitting reaction. We present a liquid water fed polymer electrolyte water electrolyzer cell operated at a cell temperature of 100 d ...

We recently showed that silicon heterojunction solar cell with MoOx-based hole-selective contact could reach 23.5% in efficiency with MoOx layers of 4 nm. Such thin MoOx layer enables a considerable current-density gain of over 1 mA/cm(2) compared to the u ...
