Power-line communications are employed in home networking to provide easy and high-throughput connectivity. The IEEE 1901, the MAC protocol for power-line networks, employs a CSMA/CA protocol similar to that of 802.11, but is substantially more complex, wh ...

Power-line communication (PLC) is a technology that has become very popular, as it offers easy and high-throughput connectivity in local networks. Although it is widely adopted in hybrid PLC/WiFi networks and commercially successful, PLC has received littl ...

Several technologies, such as WiFi, Ethernet and power-line communications (PLC), can be used to build residential and enterprise networks. These technologies often co-exist; most networks use WiFi, and buildings are readily equipped with electrical wires ...

Reliable packet delivery within stringent delay-constraints is of paramount importance to mission-critical computer applications with hard real-time constraints. Because retransmission and coding techniques counteract the delay requirements, reliability ma ...

Traditional electric power grids are currently undergoing fundamental changes: Representative examples are the increase in the penetration of volatile and decentralized renewable-energy sources and the emerging distributed energy-storage systems. These cha ...

In a first aspect the invention provides a system that comprising a plurality of electronic modules, each one of the electronic modules configured for enabling automation of an electrical appliance to be connected to the electronic module. Each electronic ...

The celebrated distributed computing approach for building systems and services using multiple machines continues to expand to new domains. Computation devices nowadays have additional sensing and communication capabilities, while becoming, at the same tim ...

We present protocols for creating pairwise secrets between nodes in a wireless network, so that these secrets are secure from an eavesdropper, Eve, with unbounded computational and memory capabilities, but with limited network presence. We first present a ...

Software Defined Networking (SDN) is a novel approach to building computer networks. Improved flexibility, simplified management and cost reduction promised by SDN makes many see it as the future of networking. The main insight of SDN is the separation of ...

It has recently been shown that flexible channelization, whereby wireless stations adapt their spectrum bands on a per-frame basis, is feasible in practice. In this paper, we propose TF-CSMA/CA, an algorithm for flexible channelization that schedules packe ...
