Metal-halide perovskite semiconductors have attracted intense interest over the past decade, particularly for applications in photovoltaics. Low-energy optical phonons combined with significant crystal anharmonicity play an important role in charge-carrier ...

We propose a novel helical crystal lattice model for chiral and achiral carbon nanotubes (CNTs) where the unit cell and the helical crystal vector are defined in a unique and systematic manner for arbitrary CNTs. The small unit cell of this helical crystal ...

This paper describes the electrochemical investigation of two multi-walled carbon nanotube-based electrodes using potassium ferricyanide as a benchmark redox system. Carbon nanotubes were fabricated by chemical vapor deposition on silicon wafer with campho ...

We present the successful fabrication of horizontally grown and dense carbon nanotube (CNT) membranes in situ. A TiN/Al2O3/TiN stack is first patterned to be employed as a support for the CNT growth. Iron is then evaporated with a 45 degrees tilt angle on ...

We report on ultrafast transient absorption (TA) studies of surface plasmon-excited similar to 25 nm-diameter Au nanoparticles in solution, monitoring the response of the surface plasmon resonance in the visible region (1.7-3.0 eV) and that of the inter- a ...

Carbon nanotubes improve the sensitivity of electrochemical biochips. An optimized integration of the nano/bio/CMOS interface is required to realize accurate and low-cost sensors for applications in personalized medicine. The nanotubes orientation on the c ...

In this dissertation, carbon is proposed as an alternative electrode material to interface with semiconducting organic-inorganic metal halide perovskites in various optoelectronic applications. Carbon electrodes may offer, good device performance, while pr ...

The crossed junction formed between a multi walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) and a bundle of single walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) is investigated. The junction is fabricated by orthogonally assembling the MWCNT and SWCNT by a two-step dielectrophoresis proc ...

Based on the reported ion migration under an electric field in hybrid lead halide perovskites we have developed a bright, light-emitting electrochemical cell with CH3NH3PbBr3 single crystals directly grown on vertically aligned carbon nanotube forests as c ...

The thermal drawing process is emerging as a versatile platform for the development of multimaterial fiber devices and advanced textiles for sensing, energy harvesting or medical applications, owing to the possibility to integrate insulators, conductors an ...

In this work, tunable MEMS capacitors are realized using a vertically grown carbon nanotube array. The vertical CNT array forms an effective CNT membrane, which can be electrostatically actuated like the conventional metal plates used in MEMS capacitors. T ...

For better electrical contacts of potential devices, growth of vertically aligned carbon nanotubes (CNT forests) directly onto conductive substrates is an emerging challenge. Here, we report a systematic study on the CCVD synthesis of carbon nanotube fores ...

Today, silicon is the most used material in photovoltaics, with the maximum conversion efficiency getting very close to the Shockley-Queisser limit for single-junction devices. Integrating silicon with higher band-gap ternary III-V absorbers is the path to ...

In the last forty years the semiconductor industry focused on the downscaling process of the CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) technology, trying to follow as much as possible the empirical Moore's Law. In the last five years this trend has be ...

In this thesis, the electronic structures of low-dimensional carbon allotropes have been studied. In particular, the spatially-resolved photocurrent responses of devices comprising carbon nanostructures were investigated through scanning photocurrent micro ...
