Topological Weyl semimetals represent a novel class of nontrivial materials, where band crossings with linear dispersions take place at generic momenta across reciprocal space. These crossings give rise to low -energy properties akin to those of Weyl fermi ...

In the standard model of particle physics, the chiral anomaly can occur in relativistic plasmas and plays a role in the early Universe, protoneutron stars, heavy-ion collisions, and quantum materials. It gives rise to a magnetic instability if the number d ...

A spinal cord injury (SCI) triggers a cascade of molecular and cellular responses involving inflammatory cell infiltration and cytokine release, apoptosis, demyelination, excitotoxicity, ischemia, and the formation of a fibrotic scar surrounded by an astro ...

Type inference in the presence of first-class or "impredicative" second-order polymorphism a la System F has been an active research area for several decades, with original works dating back to the end of the 80s. Yet, until now many basic problems remain ...

Diode effects are of great interest for both fundamental physics and modern technologies. Electrical diode effects (nonreciprocal transport) have been observed in Weyl systems. Optical diode effects arising from the Weyl fermions have been theoretically co ...

Variational Monte Carlo (VMC) studies of extended Kitaev honeycomb models reveal a series of multinode quantum spin liquids (QSLs). They have an emergent Z2 gauge structure, a discrete number of symmetry-protected Majorana cones, and form Abelian or non-Ab ...

Why are materials with specific characteristics more abundant than others? This is a fundamental question in materials science and one that is traditionally difficult to tackle, given the vastness of compositional and configurational space. We highlight he ...

While momentum-based accelerated variants of stochastic gradient descent (SGD) are widely used when training machine learning models, there is little theoretical understanding on the generalization error of such methods. In this work, we first show that th ...

In this work, we investigate the effect of momentum on the optimisation trajectory of gradient descent. We leverage a continuous-time approach in the analysis of momentum gradient descent with step size

We study the statistical mechanics and the equilibrium dynamics of a system of classical Heisenberg spins with frustrated interactions on a d -dimensional simple hypercubic lattice, in the limit of infinite dimensionality d -> infinity . In the analysis we ...

Topological materials have been a main focus of studies in the past decade due to their protected properties that can be exploited for the fabrication of new devices. Among them, Weyl semimetals are a class of topological semimetals with nontrivial linear ...

Historically speaking, the notion of the type was reintroduced to the larger architectural discourse as a direct consequence of the crisis of the Modern. The task of revisiting the forms of the past also dictated the return of architectural methods that ha ...

Me3+8Ge, being a Weyl semimetal, shows a large anomalous Hall effect (AHE), which decreases slowly with an increase in 8 from 0.1 to 0.4. However, AHE in this compound remains significantly large in the whole range of 8 because of the robust nature of the ...

In plasmas composed of massless electrically charged fermions, chirality can be interchanged with magnetic helicity while preserving the total chirality through the quantum chiral anomaly. The decay of turbulent energy in plasmas such as those in the early ...

Activin-A is a Transforming Growth Factor-B (TGFB)-related cytokine that regulates various biological processes including cell proliferation and differentiation through autocrine, paracrine or endocrine signaling. Activin-A expression is upregulated in mul ...

We introduce a classification of the radial spin textures in momentum space that emerge at the high-symmetry points in crystals characterized by nonpolar chiral point groups (D2, D3, D4, D6, T, O). Based on the symmetry constraints imposed by these point g ...

Type systems usually characterize the shape of values but not their free variables. However, many desirable safety properties could be guaranteed if one knew the free variables captured by values. We describe CC

Transition metal oxides represent a class of materials displaying very unusual electronic, structural and magnetic properties. They are extremely interesting, both from a technological and fundamental point of view. The most important characteristic of the ...

The classical Lagrangian of the Standard Model enjoys the symmetry of the full conformal group if the mass of the Higgs boson is put to zero. This is a hint that conformal symmetry may play a fundamental role in the ultimate theory describing nature. The o ...

We study the evolution of magnetic fields coupled with chiral fermion asymmetry in the framework of chiral magnetohydrodynamics with zero initial total chirality. The initial magnetic field has a turbulent spectrum peaking at a certain characteristic scale ...
