On-surface synthesis has become a prominent method for growing low-dimensional carbon-based nanomaterials on metal surfaces. However, the necessity of decoupling organic nanostructures from metal substrates to exploit their properties requires either trans ...

Ought to their bioinert properties and facile synthesis, poly[(oligoethylene glycol)methacrylate]s (POEGMAs) have been raised as attractive alternatives to poly(ethylene glycols) (PEGs) in an array of (bio)material applications, especially when they are ap ...

In this note, we prove that if a subharmonic function Delta u >= 0 has pure second derivatives partial derivative(ii)u that are signed measures, then their negative part (partial derivative(ii)u)- belongs to L-1 (in particular, it is not singular). We then ...

Semiconductor materials have given rise to today's digital technology and consumer electronics. Widespread adoption is closely linked to the ability to process and integrate them in devices at scale. Where flexibility and large surfaces are required, such ...

Inverted perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have attracted increasing attention in recent years owing to their low-temperature fabrication proces s. However, they suffer from a limited number of electron transport materials available with [6,6]-phenyl C-61 buty ...

Transition-metal dichalcogenide bilayers exhibit a rich exciton landscape including layer-hybridized excitons, i.e. excitons which are of partly intra- and interlayer nature. In this work, we study hybrid exciton-exciton interactions in naturally stacked W ...

CO-selective metals (e.g., Ag) on Cu catalysts improve the selec-tivity of multi-carbon (C2+) products in electrochemical CO2 reduc-tion. However, the origin of the improvement remains unclear due to the convolution of tandem and interface effects. Here, A ...

Transition metal-catalyzed C-H activation is a powerful tool for the synthesis of organic building blocks, materials, and natural products. Over the last decade, directing-group-assisted metal-catalyzed C-H functionalization has attracted increasing intere ...

Nitrogen-containing compounds are an important class of molecules in medicinal chemistry, chemical biology, biochemistry, material sciences or environmental sciences. Organic nitrogen occurs in many forms, ranging from small building blocks such as urea, a ...

Monitoring human sweat with wearable biochemical sensors could give insights into the hydration, fatigue, and health status, tracking the variations of biomarkers non-invasively and in real-time. In this field, organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) a ...

We consider expected performances based on max-stable random fields and we are interested in their derivatives with respect to the spatial dependence parameters of those fields. Max-stable fields, such as the Brown-Resnick and Smith fields, are very popula ...

Plant natural products (PNPs) and their derivatives are important but underexplored sources of pharmaceutical molecules. To access this untapped potential, the reconstitution of heterologous PNP biosynthesis pathways in engineered microbes provides a valua ...

We study vector-valued solutions u(t, x) is an element of R-d to systems of nonlinear stochastic heat equations with multiplicative noise, ...

Sensors capable of detecting and classifying volatile organic compounds (VOC) have been gaining more attention by the advent of internet-of-things (IoT) enabled devices and integration of various sensing elements into hand-held and portable devices. The re ...

Binary dielectric metasurfaces are arrays of sub-wavelength structures that act as a thin layer of artificial material. They are generally lossless and relatively simple to fabricate since only a single structuring step is required. By carefully designing ...

The invention relates to a method for degradation of plastic materials into terephthalic acid (TPA)and/or ethylene glycol and/or other monomers that form the plastic materials. ...

We propose a new formulation to the non-rigid structure-from-motion problem that only requires the deforming surface to meaning that its differential structure is preserved. This is a much weaker assumption than the traditional ones of isometry or conforma ...

Pickering emulsions stabilized with a natural silicate mineral, halloysite, were dried by freeze granulation in order to prepare porous granules. Different formulations were studied, by varying the pH of the suspension, the ionic strength and with the addi ...

C-C and C-N bonds are some of the most common structures in molecules ranging from drugs to catalysts and to food additives. Many coupling reactions were developed to form these types of bonds with excellent selectivity and good performance. Still, the syn ...

In an open, bounded subset Omega of R-N such that 0 is an element of Omega we consider the nonlinear eigenvalue problem -Sigma(N)(i,j,=1) partial derivative(i){A(ij)(x)partial derivative(j)u} + V(x)u + n(x,del u)+ g(x, u) = lambda u in Omega integral(Omega ...
