Steel-copper multi-material structures produced via Additive Manufacturing pose challenges in laser co-processing and microstructural control. This work employs neutron imaging, Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD), and Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (E ...

Water is the third most abundant molecule in the universe and a key component in the interiors of icy moons, giant planets and Uranus- and Neptune-like exoplanets1, 2–3. Owing to its distinct molecular structure and flexible hydrogen bonds that readily ada ...

How molecular-level understanding of the crystal growth mechanisms and their relation to lattice bonds informs the rational design of crystals with desired shapes and properties has remained elusive. Here we employ theophylline crystals and drive them into ...

Fe-exchanged zeolites are heterogeneous catalysts that can potentially ensure simultaneous conversion of nitrous oxide (N2O) and nitric oxide (NO) using ammonia (NH3) as a selective reducing agent through their selective catalytic reduction reaction (N2O-N ...

The simultaneous application of high magnetic fields and high pressures for controlling magnetic ground states is important for testing our understanding of many-body quantum theory. However, the implementation for neutron scattering experiments presents a ...

The central aim of this thesis is to investigate single molecule phenomena in self-assembled plasmonic nanocavities, focusing on achieving single molecule sensitivity within these highly confined electromagnetic environments. While self-assembled nanocavit ...

A novel autothermal methane-reforming limestone-calcination process is analyzed through thermodynamic and kinetic investigations to yield syngas for direct ammonia production. A comprehensive correlation is developed to determine the required gaseous feed ...

Low-dimensional perovskite such as layered halide perovskite and perovskite nanocrystals have attracted attention in the past decade. These materials have impressive optoelectronic properties such as high photoluminescence and improved stability relative t ...

Magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) and magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging (MRSI), are non-invasive techniques used to quantify biochemical compounds in tissue, such as choline, creatine, glutamate, glutamine, γ-aminobutyric acid, N-acetylaspartate ...

Ammonium fluoride (NH₄F) exhibits a variety of crystalline phases depending on temperature and pressure. By employing Raman spectroscopy and synchrotron X-ray diffraction beyond megabar pressures (up to 140 GPa), we have here observed a novel dense solid p ...

We extend previous inelastic neutron scattering results on the geometrically frustrated antiferromagnet hexagonal-YMnO3, 3 , which has been suggested to belong to the class of classical spin liquids. We expand the energy transfer range of the diffuse signa ...

This article presents a comprehensive investigation into the functionalization of methoxyphenylazobenzene using electron-directing groups located at the meta position relative to the azo group. Spectroscopic analysis of meta-functionalized azobenzenes reve ...

Crystalline calcium carbonate isotope compositions have been widely used to reconstruct past environments. However, if their isotopic compositions are modified because of crystallization from an amorphous precursor, their reliability as paleo-geochemical p ...

Carbonyl-containing materials employed in state-of-the-art hybrid lead halide perovskite solar cells (PSCs) exhibit a strong structure-dependent electron donor effect that predominates in defect passivation. However, the impact of the molecular spatial con ...

The 4-electron oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) under alkaline conditions is central to the development of non-noble metal-based hydrogen fuel cell technologies. However, the kinetics of ORR are constrained by scaling relations, where the adsorption free en ...
