We study applications of spectral positivity and the averaged null energy condition (ANEC) to renormalization group (RG) flows in two-dimensional quantum field theory. We find a succinct new proof of the Zamolodchikov c-theorem, and derive further independ ...

The standard way to do computations in Quantum Field Theory (QFT) often results in the requirement of dramatic cancellations between contributions induced by a "heavy" sector into the physical observables of the "light" (or low energy) sector - the phenome ...

We use the S-matrix bootstrap to carve out the space of unitary, analytic, crossing symmetric and supersymmetric graviton scattering amplitudes in nine, ten and eleven dimensions. We extend and improve the numerical methods of our previous work in ten dime ...

Quantum Field Theory(QFT) as one of the most promising frameworks to study high energy and condensed matter physics, has been mostly developed by perturbative methods. However, perturbative methods can only capture a small island of the space of QFTs. QFT ...

We address the many-body self-interaction in relation to polarons in density functional theory. Our study provides (i) a unified theoretical framework encompassing many-body and one-body forms of self-interaction and (ii) an efficient semilocal scheme for ...

We develop a unified theoretical framework encompassing one-body and many-body forms of self-interaction. We find an analytic expression for both the one-body and the many-body self-interaction energies, and quantitatively connect the two expressions throu ...

We find the complete set of conditions satisfied by the forward 2 -> 2 scattering amplitude in unitary and causal theories. These are based on an infinite set of energy dependent quantities (the arcs) which are dispersively expressed as moments of a positi ...

The boundary correlation functions for a Quantum Field Theory (QFT) in an Anti-de Sitter (AdS) background can stay conformally covariant even if the bulk theory undergoes a renormalization group (RG) flow. Studying such correlation functions with the numer ...

Conformal field theory lies at the heart of two central topics in theoretical high energy physics: the study of quantum gravity and the mapping of quantum field theories through the renormalization group. In this thesis we explore a technique to study conf ...

We use Lightcone Conformal Truncation to analyze the RG flow of the two-dimensional supersymmetric Gross-Neveu-Yukawa theory, i.e. the theory of a real scalar superfield with a DOUBLE-STRUCK CAPITAL Z(2)-symmetric cubic superpotential, aka the 2d Wess-Zumi ...

Quantum field theories (QFTs) are the backbone upon which the edifice of modern physics is built. In this thesis we explore the S-matrix bootstrap which is a non-perturbative method that constrains the vast space of QFTs by using consistency conditions tha ...

Non-adiabatic electron response leads to significant changes in ion temperature gradient (ITG) eigenmodes, leading, in particular, to fine-structures that are significantly extended along the magnetic field lines at corresponding mode rational surfaces (MR ...

We investigate the extent to which the class of Dirac materials in two-dimensions provides general statements about the behavior of both fermionic and bosonic Dirac quasiparticles in the interacting regime. For both quasiparticle types, we find common feat ...

Recently, SU(3) chains in the symmetric and self-conjugate representations have been studied using field theory techniques. For certain representations, namely rank-psymmetric ones with pnot a multiple of 3, it was argued that the ground state exhibits gap ...

Conformal field theories (CFTs) play a very significant role in modern physics, appearing in such diverse fields as particle physics, condensed matter and statistical physics and in quantum gravity both as the string worldsheet theory and through the AdS/C ...

There exist renormalization schemes that explicitly preserve the scale invariance of a theory at the quantum level. Imposing a scale-invariant renormalization breaks renormalizability and induces new nontrivial operators in the theory. In this work, we stu ...

We revisit the question of frame equivalence in Quantum Field Theory in the presence of gravity, a situation of relevance for theories aiming to describe the early Universe dynamics and Inflation in particular. We show that in those cases, the path integra ...

We compute the renormalization group running of the Newton constant and the parameter lambda in (3 + 1)-dimensional projectable Horava gravity. We use the background-field method, expanding around configurations with flat spatial metric, but nonvanishing s ...

This thesis presents studies in strongly coupled Renormalization Group (RG) flows. In the first part, we analyze the subject of non-local Conformal Field Theories (CFTs), arising as continuous phase transitions of statistical models with long-range interac ...

For properties of interacting electron systems, Kohn-Sham (KS) theory is often favored over many-body perturbation theory (MBPT), owing to its low computational cost. However, the exact KS potential can be challenging to approximate, for example in the pre ...
