Self Organized Routing in Wide Area Mobile Ad Hoc Network

Résumé

This paper considers the problem of routing in a wide area mobile ad-hoc network called Terminode Network. Our routing scheme is a combination of two protocols called Termin-ode Local Routing (TLR) and Terminode Remote Routing (TRR). TRR is activated when the destination is remo t e and uses loca-tion of the destination obtained either via location management or by location tracking. TLR acts when the packet gets close to the destination. The use of TRR results in a scalable solution that reduces dependence on the intermediate systems, while TLR al-lows to reduce problems due to location inaccuracy. The paper describes TLR and TRR protocols and presents some simulation results.

Location-based service

A location-based service (LBS) is a general term denoting software services which use geographic data and information to provide services or information to users. LBS can be used in a variety of contexts, such as health, indoor object search, entertainment, work, personal life, etc. Commonly used examples of location based services include navigation software, social networking services, location-based advertising, and tracking systems. LBS can also include mobile commerce when taking the form of coupons or advertising directed at customers based on their current location.

Mobile phone tracking

Mobile phone tracking is a process for identifying the location of a mobile phone, whether stationary or moving. Localization may be affected by a number of technologies, such as the multilateration of radio signals between (several) cell towers of the network and the phone or by simply using GNSS. To locate a mobile phone using multilateration of mobile radio signals, the phone must emit at least the idle signal to contact nearby antenna towers and does not require an active call.

A positioning system is a system for determining the position of an object in space. One of the most well-known and commonly used positioning systems is the Global Positioning System (GPS). Positioning system technologies exist ranging from worldwide coverage with meter accuracy to workspace coverage with sub-millimeter accuracy. Interplanetary-radio communication systems not only communicate with spacecraft, but they are also used to determine their position.
