Fractionalization remains one of the most fascinating manifestations of strong interactions in quantum many-body systems. In quantum magnetism, the existence of spinons-collective magnetic excitations that behave as quasiparticles with fractional quantum n ...

Measurements of the elliptic (v(2)) and triangular (v(3)) azimuthal anisotropy coefficients are presented for D-0 mesons produced in b hadron decays (nonprompt D-0 mesons) in lead-lead collisions at root s(NN) = 5.02 TeV. The results are compared with prev ...

The observation of WWγ production in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV with an integrated luminosity of 138 fb-1 is presented. The observed (expected) significance is 5.6 (5.1) standard deviations. Events are selected by requiri ...

Using data samples with an integrated luminosity of 4.67 fb(-1) collected by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII Collider, we search for the process e(+)e(-) -> eta 'psi(2S) at center-of-mass energies from 4.66 to 4.95 GeV. No significant signal is ...

Using e(+)e(-) annihilation data sets corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.5 fb(-1), collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.600 and 4.699 GeV, we report the first measurements of the absolute branching fractions B ...

Dynamic aperture is an important concept for the study of non-linear beam dynamics in circular accelerators. It describes the extent of the phase-space region where a particle's motion remains bounded over a given number of turns. Understanding the feature ...

We define a state space and a Markov process associated to the stochastic quantisation equation of Yang-Mills-Higgs (YMH) theories. The state space S is a nonlinear metric space of distributions, elements of which can be used as initial conditions for the ...

The first evidence for the Higgs boson decay to a Z boson and a photon is presented, with a statistical significance of 3.4 standard deviations. The result is derived from a combined analysis of the searches performed by the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations wi ...

Controlling and shaping radiation beams is fundamental for a better understanding of radiation-matter interaction and advancing experimental techniques for material characterization at high spatial resolution. In particular, the current trend in the miniat ...

We consider the effective interaction of quarks with a new GeV-scale vector particle that couples to electroweak gauge bosons by the so-called effective Chern-Simons (CS) interaction. We call this particle the CS boson. We construct effective Lagrangian of ...

Efficient excitation of nuclei via exchange of a real or virtual photon has a fundamental importance for nuclear science and technology development. Here, we present a mechanism of nuclear excitation based on the capture of a free muon into the atomic orbi ...

The production of prompt charged particles in proton-lead collisions and in proton-proton collisions at the nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy root s(NN) = 5 TeV is studied at LHCb as a function of pseudorapidity (eta) and transverse momentum (p(T) ) wi ...
