This dissertation addresses two research themes in modern organic synthesis. The first topic explores the development of new reactions enabled by Pd(IV)-involved catalytic cycles. The second theme investigates the synthetic studies towards total synthesis ...

The first chapter of this thesis describe the development of a general synthesis of ynimines, an under-exploited motif in organic chemistry. In the presence of an inexpensive copper catalyst and 2,2'-biquinoline, reaction of easily accessible O-acyloximes ...

Indole is one of the most important heterocycles widely present in bioactive natural products, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and materials. Being easily accessible, the 2-nitrostyrenes are attractive starting materials for the indole synthesis and the Cad ...

The development of a titanium(III)-mediated cascade electrocyclisation/rearrangement for the enantioselective total synthesis of indole alkaloids (+)-condyfoline and (-)-tubifoline serve as the basis of the first chapter of this thesis. An introduction wil ...

We report herein the enantioselective total synthesis of three monoterpene indole alkaloids, namely, (+)-alstilobanine C, (+)-undulifoline, and (-)-alpneumine H. The key features of our synthesis include: a) introduction of chirality via enantioselective d ...

Chiral alkyl amines are omnipresent as bioactive molecules and synthetic intermediates. The catalytic and enantioselective synthesis of alkyl amines from readily accessible precursors is challenging. Here we develop a nickel-catalyzed hydroalkylation metho ...

the strategy involving the use of functionalized tetrahydro-6H-cycloocta[b]indol-6-one is reported as a key intermediate for synthesis of members of the sarpagine-ajmaline-macroline family of monoterpene indole alkaloids. The desired tricycle was synthesiz ...

The development of an unusual oxidative alkene difunctionalization using methyl formate and syn-thetic studies towards alkaloid natural products provide the basis of the thesis. The first chapter details the development of a method that forges methoxycarbo ...

Ozone, electrolysis and granular activated carbon (GAC) were examined as potential post-treatments to followa household-scale biologically activated membrane bioreactor (BAMBi), treating a wash water containing trace urine and feces contamination. Each pos ...

The work presented in this thesis focuses on the synthesis of monoterpene indole alkaloids. The first part describes the development of a general methodology to provide an enantioenriched platform, useful for the convergent synthesis of Akuammiline alkalo ...

Among the fundamental chemical transformations in organic synthesis, rearrangement has been recognized as powerful and reliable reactions for the construction of carbon-carbon or carbon-heteroatom bonds. Benefiting from the advance of the novel catalytic s ...

Organic chemistry is essential for the development of a modern society and technical progress requires the continuous development of synthetic methodologies Novel, efficient, selective and flexible protocols are employed to access complex frameworks from s ...

Precipitation is a process wherein a solid phase forms from a solution. Precipitation is at the heart of many industries producing pharmaceuticals, catalysts, ceramics, and nanoparticles. In addition to being a material synthesis route, precipitation has i ...

An efficient CpxRhIII‐catalyzed enantioselective alkenyl C−H functionalization/[4+1] annulation of acryl amides and allenes is reported. The described transformation provides straightforward access to enantioenriched α,β‐unsaturated‐γ‐lactams bearing a qua ...

An enantioselective total synthesis of (-)-terengganensine A, a heptacyclic monoterpene indole alkaloid, was performed. A short sequence allowed to obtain the enantio-enriched target in good overall yield. The synthesis featured a key asymmetric transfer h ...

The total synthesis of pentacyclic monoterpene indole alkaloids is the focus of this thesis. Total syntheses of (±)-alstilobanine C, (±)-undulifoline and (±)-alstilobanine B, three natural products from the Ulean family of alkaloids, were accomplished. The ...

Peptides represent a promising molecular class for drug development. They combine several strengths of small molecules (e.g. efficient tissue diffusion, low immunogenicity and access to chemical synthesis) and key properties of biologics such as monoclonal ...

Alkene functionality can be found in the majority of natural products, drugs, catalysts and organic materials. Therefore, methods of C-C double bond formation constitute a cornerstone of organic synthesis. Selective formation of either (Z)- or (E)-isomer i ...

Esters are one of the most common functional groups in natural and synthetic products, and the one-step conversion of the ester group into other functional groups is an attractive strategy in organic synthesis. Direct amidation of esters is particularly ap ...

Organic molecules are indispensable have greatly contributed to the confort of our modern life. Nevertheless, humanity is facing now new challenges such as environmental issues and emerging drug resistances. In order to solve these major concerns, chemists ...
