Tomographic imaging of time-evolving samples is a challenging yet important task for various research fields. At the nanoscale, current approaches face limitations of measurement speed or resolution due to lengthy acquisitions. We developed a dynamic nanot ...

Anion exchange membrane fuel cells (AEMFCs) are considered one of the most promising and efficient hydrogen conversion technologies due to their ability to use cost-effective materials. However, AEMFCs are still in an early stage of development and the lac ...

Biogas-based power-to-X technology allows storing renewable electricity, while producing CO2-neutral products. This work investigates the conversion and upgrading of digestion-derived gas mixtures with focus on increasing the operational flexibility of the ...

Microalgae are small organisms that live in water and use solar energy or artificial light to grow. They are emerging to be one of the most promising long-term, sustainable sources of biomass for fuel, food, feed, and other high valuable co-products. Like ...

Molecular understanding of the electrochemical oxidation of metals and the electro-reduction of metal oxides is of pivotal importance for the rational design of catalyst-based devices where metal(oxide) electrodes play a crucial role. Operando monitoring a ...

We present insights into the mechanism and the active site for hydrogen evolution on nickel phosphide (Ni2P). Ni2P was recently discovered to be a very active non-precious hydrogen evolution catalyst. Current literature attributes the activity of Ni2P to a ...

Pt is the state-of-the-art anode catalyst in direct methanol fuel cells. Here we report that Ni2P promotes the activity and stability of Pt in electrochemical methanol oxidation. Nanoparticles of Ni2P and Pt were co-deposited on a carbon support and their ...

(La0.6Sr0.4)(0.95)FeO3-delta/Sm0.2Ce0.8O2 (70:30, w/w) and (La0.6Sr0.4)(0.995)Co0.2Fe0.8O3-delta/Gd0.1Ce0.9O2 (50:50, w/w) cathodes screen printed on anode-supported cells were tested for 500h under different conditions by using a Taguchi matrix that combi ...

A model-based Design of Experiments method was employed for the optimisation of measurements on a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC). Based on a simplified SOFC model, a variation of the D-optimality was used as optimisation criterion for the calculation of opti ...

Solar hydrogen production via watersplitting with hematite (Fe2O3) has been limited by poor light absorption and a small hole diffusion length. These drawbacks can be overcome by using a high-surface-area host to support a thin layer of hematite-allowing p ...

Electrical output behaviour obtained on solid oxide fuel cell stacks, based on planar anode supported cells (50 or 100 cm2 active area) and metallic interconnects, is reported. Stacks (1–12 cells) have been operated with cathode air and anode hydrogen flow ...
