A-site cation mixing can enhance the photovoltaic performance of a wide-bandgap (WBG) perovskite, but rubidium (Rb) cation mixing generally forms a nonperovskite phase. We report that lattice strain locks Rb ions into the α-phase of the lattice of a triple ...

Excitons play an essential role in the optical response of two-dimensional materials. These are bound states showing up in the band gaps of many-body systems and are conceived as quasiparticles formed by an electron and a hole. By performing real-time simu ...

Electron-rich organocerium complexes (C5Me4H)(3)Ce and [(C5Me5)(2)Ce(ortho-oxa)], with redox potentials E-1/2 = -0.82 V and E-1/2 = -0.86 V versus Fc/Fc(+), respectively, were reacted with fullerene (C-60) in different stoichiometries to obtain molecular m ...

Over the past decade, quantum photonics platforms aiming at harnessing the fundamental properties of single particles, such as quantum superposition and quantum entanglement, have flourished. In this context, single-photon emitters capable of operating at ...

In semiconductors, exciton or charge carrier diffusivity is typically described as an inherent material property. Here, we show that the transport of excitons among CsPbBr3 perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) depends markedly on how recently those NCs were occup ...

We present an orbital-resolved extension of the Hubbard U correction to density-functional theory (DFT). Compared to the conventional shell-averaged approach, the prediction of energetic, electronic and structural properties is strongly improved, particula ...

Climate changes influence lake hydrodynamics and radiation levels and thus may affect the fate and transport of waterborne pathogens in lakes. This study examines the impact of climate change on the fate, transport, and associated risks of four waterborne ...

In the past decades, a significant increase of the transistor density on a chip has led to exponential growth in computational power driven by Moore's law. To overcome the bottleneck of traditional von-Neumann architecture in computational efficiency, effo ...

The synthesis and control of properties of p-type ZnO is crucial for a variety of optoelectronic and spintronic applications; however, it remains challenging due to the control of intrinsic midgap (defect) states. In this study, we demonstrate a synthetic ...

This dataset accompanies the publication "Quantum-mechanical effects in photoluminescence from thin crystalline gold films" published in Light: Science & Applications (https://doi.org/10.1038/s41377-024-01408-2). The data can be used to reproduce plots 1-4 ...

Microcavity polaritons are strongly interacting hybrid light-matter quasiparticles, which are promising for the development of novel light sources and active photonic devices. Here, we report polariton lasing in the UV spectral range in microring resonator ...

The subject of the present work is discovery and in-depth characterization of a new class of functional materials. Tuning of the bond polarity and orbital occupation with a goal of establishing balance between localization and delocalization of electrons - ...

We show that effectively cold metastable states in one-dimensional photodoped Mott insulators described by the extended Hubbard model exhibit spin, charge, and q-spin separation. Their wave functions in the large on-site Coulomb interaction limit can be ex ...

As the world’s population grows in cities, urban dwellers spend a large amount of time inside their home, making housing health ever more important. Critical for residents’ health, the interactions between indoor residential environments and outdoor enviro ...

The significant discrepancy observed between the predicted and experimental switching fields in correlated insulators under a DC electric field far-from-equilibrium necessitates a reevaluation of current microscopic understanding. Here we show that an elec ...

Dysregulations in cholesterol metabolism are associated with neurodegenerative and vascular pathologies, and dementia. Diet-derived plant sterols (phytosterols) have cholesterol-lowering, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties and may interfere with ...

The electron self-interaction is a long-standing problem in density functional theory and is particularly critical in the description of polarons. Polarons are quasiparticles involving charge localization coupled with self-induced lattice distortions. Sinc ...

This article explores how the logic underlying modal practices tends to modulate the population’s responsiveness to improvements in global transport supply. Based on a quantitative survey conducted in 2018–2019 among the working population of the cantons o ...

Spin waves (SWs) are collective excitations of the spin ensemble in systems with magnetic order. In quantum mechanics, a SW is known as a magnon, which is the quasiparticle describing the quantized nature of these wave-like excitations. Magnonics is the re ...

The terminology of neurological disorders encompasses a range of serious illnesses (e.g., epilepsy, Alzheimer's disease) leading to morbidity, disability, and stigma. Epilepsy alone affects over 50 million people worldwide, and these figures are rising as ...
