This work presents the initial studies on the requirements for the design of 3D coils on EU-DEMO. The use of 3D coils in present machines includes two main purposes: the first one is the Error Field Correction (EFC). The EFC aims at minimizing the intrinsi ...

The potential of automatic code generation through Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) frameworks has yet to be realized. Beyond their ability to help software professionals write more accurate, reusable code, MDE frameworks could make programming accessible fo ...

Extracting value and insights from increasingly heterogeneous data sources involves multiple systems combining and consuming the data. With multi-modal and context-rich data such as strings, text, videos, or images, the problem of standardizing the data mo ...

Alloys composed of several elements in roughly equimolar composition, often referred to as high-entropy alloys, have long been of interest for their thermodynamics and peculiar mechanical properties, and more recently for their potential application in cat ...

In the current era of big data, aggregation queries on high-dimensional datasets are frequently utilized to uncover hidden patterns, trends, and correlations critical for effective business decision-making. Data cubes facilitate such queries by employing p ...

This dataset supports the publication 'Elastocapillary menisci mediate interaction of neighboring structures at the surface of a compliant solid' by Lebo Molefe and John M. Kolinski, Physical Review E, (2023). The data are surface profiles of textured surf ...

In this thesis, we present a theory of value for the design and analysis of service ecosystems. The theory is based on general systems thinking. The concept of a system is used for relating knowledge from different disciplines (such as software engineering ...

During the design phase of an aircraft manufacturing system, different industrial scenarios need to be evaluated according to key performance indicators to achieve the optimal system performance. It is a highly complex process involving multidisciplinary s ...

In the modern age of miniaturisation, Smart Materials, a type of material that reacts mechanically to a certain stimulus, have become an integral part of this revolution. Among these materials, Shape Memory Alloys (SMAs), which have the highest volumetric ...

In today's world, there is no shortage of disruptors acting on various professional domains. The Fourth Industrial Revolution, with its AI-driven and automation-focused technologies, has fundamentally changed many domains -- particularly the Information an ...

Digital data is a gold mine for modern journalism. However, datasets which interest journalists are extremely heterogeneous, ranging from highly structured (relational databases), semi-structured (JSON, XML, HTML), graphs (e.g., RDF), and text. Journalists ...

This paper describes the second iteration in the development of a simulation tool that provides trade-offs of avionic architectures for future Active Debris Removal (ADR) space missions. ...

The valorisation of the plant biopolymer lignin is now recognised as essential to enabling the economic viability of the lignocellulosic biorefining industry. In this context, the "lignin-first" biorefining approach, in which lignin valorisation is conside ...
