Unrefinement is a tool that allows to perform faster numerical simulations by controlling the level of precision in the specified area. We introduce an algorithm that creates a coarser geometry from an initial regular geometry, which is represented with re ...

The design and construction of doubly-curved structures often reveals to be challenging and can result in complex manufacturing and assembly. A recent strategy to tackle this difficulty consists in exploiting the connection between discrete differential ge ...

This contribution explores the combined capabilities of reduced basis methods and IsoGeometric Analysis (IGA) in the context of parameterized partial differential equations. The introduction of IGA enables a unified simulation framework based on a single g ...

The design of envelopes with complex geometries often leads to construction challenges. To overcome these difficulties, resorting to discrete differential geometry proved successful by establishing close links between mesh properties and the existence of g ...

Differentiable rendering has recently opened the door to a number of challenging inverse problems involving photorealistic images, such as computational material design and scattering-aware reconstruction of geometry and materials from photographs. Differe ...

We prove a version of Myers-Steenrod's theorem for Finsler manifolds under the minimal regularity hypothesis. In particular we show that an isometry between C-k,C-alpha-smooth (or partially smooth) Finsler metrics, with k + alpha > 0, k is an element of N ...

The effect of geometry variations on the engulfment regime in micromixers is investigated. The engulfment regime is a steady flow regime resulting from a symmetry-breaking pitchfork bifurcation as the Reynolds number (based on the hydraulic diameter and bu ...

In this paper we show that the incompressible Euler equation on the Sobolev space H-s(R-n), s> n/2+1, can be expressed in Lagrangian coordinates as a geodesic equation on an infinite dimensional manifold. Moreover the Christoffel map describing the geodesi ...

This paper addresses the problem of compression of 3D point cloud sequences that are characterized by moving 3D positions and color attributes. As temporally successive point cloud frames are similar, motion estimation is key to effective compression of th ...

The objective of this study is to experimentally analyse effects of geometry variations of Multiple Tab and Slot Joint (MTSJ) connection with dovetail design on shear mechanical behaviour. Direct shear test was performed on angular (phi=90°) MTSJ connectio ...

On the identity component of the universal Teichmuller space endowed with the Takhtajan-Teo topology, the geodesics of the Weil Petersson metric are shown to exist for all time. This component is naturally a subgroup of the quasisymmetric homeomorphisms of ...

In this paper we construct quasiconformal embeddings from Y-pieces that contain a short boundary geodesic into degenerate ones. These results are used in a companion paper to study the Jacobian tori of Riemann surfaces that contain small simple closed geod ...

This article provides an overview of various notions of shape spaces, including the space of parametrized and unparametrized curves, the space of immersions, the diffeomorphism group and the space of Riemannian metrics. We discuss the Riemannian metrics th ...

To any compact Riemann surface of genus g one may assign a principally polarized abelian variety (PPAV) of dimension g, the Jacobian of the Riemann surface. The Jacobian is a complex torus and we call a Gram matrix of the lattice of a Jacobian a period Gra ...

The subject of this thesis lies in the intersection of differential geometry and functional analysis, a domain usually called global analysis. A central object in this work is the group Ds(M) of all orientation preserving diffeomorphisms of a compact manif ...

The mathematical facet of modern crystallography is essentially based on analytical geometry, linear algebra as well as group theory. This study endeavours to approach the geometry and symmetry of crystals using the tools furnished by differential geometry ...

The aim of this dissertation is to solve numerically the following problem, denoted by P : given a Riemannian manifold and two points a and b belonging to that manifold, find a tangent vector T at a, such that expa(T) = b, assuming that T exists. This prob ...

This paper considers the problem of dimensionality reduction by orthogonal projection techniques. The main feature of the proposed techniques is that they attempt to preserve both the intrinsic neighborhood geometry of the data samples and the global geome ...

This thesis deals with applications of Lie symmetries in differential geometry and dynamical systems. The first chapter of the thesis studies the singular reduction of symmetries of cosphere bundles, the conservation properties of contact systems and their ...
