Noise can have severe impacts on particle beams in high-energy synchrotrons. In particular, it has recently been discovered that noise combined with wakefields can cause a diffusion that leads to a loss of Landau damping after a latency. Such instabilities ...

Super-resolution structured illumination microscopy (SR-SIM) can be conducted at video-rate acquisition speeds when combined with high-speed spatial light modulators and sCMOS cameras, rendering it particularly suitable for live-cell imaging. If, however, ...

Optical microscopy is an essential tool in biology and medicine. Imaging thin, yet non-flat objects in a single shot (without relying on more sophisticated sectioning setups) remains challenging as the shallow depth of field that comes with high-resolution ...

We propose methods to quantitatively calculate the fluctuation rate of red blood cells with nanometric axial and millisecond temporal sensitivity at the single-cell level by using time-lapse holographic cell imaging. For this quantitative analysis, cell me ...

Understanding cell functions is the major goal of molecular biology, which intends to elucidate the interactions between biomolecules at a subcellular level. One of the widely used techniques in molecular biology is fluorescence microscopy, which offers hi ...

We designed a complete acquisition-reconstruction framework to reduce the radiation dosage in 3D scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM). Projection measurements are acquired by randomly scanning a subset of pixels at every tilt-view (i.e., random ...

We present a two-channel deconvolution method that decomposes images into a parametric point-source channel and a pixelized extended-source channel. Based on the central idea of the deconvolution algorithm proposed by Magain et al. (1998, ApJ, 494, 472), t ...

Uniform adhesive TiO2–ZrO2 films co-sputtered on polyester (PES) under low intensity sunlight irradiation discolored methylene blue (MB) within 120 min. The discoloration kinetics was seen to be accelerated by a factor four by TiO2–ZrO2–Cu containing ∼0.01 ...

In this work, we describe our approach of combining the most effective ideas and tools developed during the past years to build a variational 3D deconvolution system that can be successfully employed in fluorescence microscopy. In particular, the main comp ...

Super-resolution fluorescence microscopy is a promising tool with the potential to strengthen our understanding of living processes. Based on the ability to switch fluorophores on and off in an either deterministic or stochastic manner, the fundamental lim ...

We demonstrate data storage on glass/silicon microfluidic devices fabricated using parylene-C as a bonding layer. In particular, we report intermediate parylene-C bonding layer fluorescence (iPBLF) and its use as an on-chip medium for data storage by dynam ...
