Recent advances in this understanding of light-matter interactions, combined with innovations in the design and fabrication of large-scale nanostructured metasurfaces, have enabled transformative approaches to biosensing and bioimaging. This review delves ...

Addressing the urgent need for innovative solutions to combat climate change, this study introduces a groundbreaking approach for the selective separation of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the industrial flue and biogas streams. By leveraging the unique propert ...

Photo-electrochemical (PEC) devices allow for converting solar energy into chemical energy and for the production of energetically dense solar fuels. Light absorption, charge separation and transport, electrochemical reactions, and ionic transport are requ ...

Soil contamination by petroleum hydrocarbons (PHCs) causes various acute problems such as crop growth, yield, and grain quality. Many Physico-chemical and biological approaches are employed to remove the PHCs from polluted soil. However, some of these appr ...

In a two-dimensional (2D) opticalspectrum of a multilevelsystem, there are diagonal peaks and off-diagonal cross-peaks that correlatethe different levels. The time-dependent properties of these diagonalpeaks and cross-peaks contain much information about th ...

The heat capacity of a material is a fundamental property of great practical importance. For example, in a carbon capture process, the heat required to regenerate a solid sorbent is directly related to the heat capacity of the material. However, for most m ...

Background: Measuring mobility in daily life entails dealing with confounding factors arising from multiple sources, including pathological characteristics, patient specific walking strategies, environment/context, and purpose of the task. The primary aim ...

Domain generalization (DG) tackles the problem of learning a model that generalizes to data drawn from a target domain that was unseen during training. A major trend in this area consists of learning a domain-invariant representation by minimizing the disc ...

Utterance-level intent detection and token-level slot filling are two key tasks for spoken language understanding (SLU) in task-oriented systems. Most existing approaches assume that only a single intent exists in an utterance. However, there are often mul ...

While metasurfaces (MSs) are constructed from deeply subwavelength unit cells, they are generally electrically large and full-wave simulations of the complete structure are computationally expensive. Thus, to reduce this high computational cost, nonuniform ...

It has recently been demonstrated that the addition of zinc can enhance the mechanical strength of tricalcium silicates (C3S) upon hydration, but the structure of the main hydration product of cement, calcium silicate hydrate (C-S-H), in zinc modified form ...

This thesis reports on a novel method for graphene transfer that is fully UHV compatible, which has remained a challenge for a long time due to the necessity of supporting graphene for transfer and most often requiring supporting layer removal post-transfe ...

Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) is the only technique capable of measuring a large number of metabolites simultaneously in vivo. Ultra-high magnetic fields (UHF) combined with ultra-short echo time (TE) sequences allow the detection of high-quality 1 ...

Uranium isotopic signatures can be harnessed to monitor the reductive remediation of subsurface contamination or to reconstruct paleo-redox environments. However, the mechanistic underpinnings of the isotope fractionation associated with U reduction remain ...

The "bridge framework"is a systematic decision-making support tool for process integration retrofit of industrial plants, which proposes the use of "bridge analysis"in a structured fashion. Its potential of rigorously analysing industrial processes has bee ...
