Tip-enhanced optical effects have enabled a wide palette of nanoscale investigation techniques and recently they were successfully used to modify and manipulate matter with nanoscale spatial resolution. We contribute to this latter area by reporting a viab ...

Perovskite-Cu(In,Ga)Se-2 (CIGS) thin-film tandem technology provides an exciting prospect to achieve low-cost high-efficiency photovoltaic devices by high throughput roll-to-roll processing on flexible substrates. However, no report on flexible perovskite- ...

The material and exact shape of a nanostructure determine its optical response, which is especially strong for plasmonic metals. Unfortunately, only a few plasmonic metals are available, which limits the spectral range where these strong optical effects ca ...

Iodide migration causes degradation of the perovskite solar cells. Here, we observe the direct migration of iodide into the hole-transport layer in a device. We demonstrate that ultrathin room temperature atomic layer-deposited Al2O3 on the perovskite surf ...

Many multication perovskites for highly stable and efficient solar cells benefit from rubidium iodide introduced in the precursor solution. It is well-known that Rb+ influences positively the optoelectronic and mobility properties and has a direct effect u ...

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have immense potential for high power conversion efficiency with an ease of fabrication procedure. The fundamental understanding of interfacial kinetics in PSCs is crucial for further improving of their photovoltaic performanc ...

Optimizing the morphology of metal halide perovskite films is an important way to improve the performance of solar cells(1) when these materials are used as light harvesters(2), because film homogeneity is correlated with photovoltaic performance(3). Many ...

We study doping and metallization of black silicon (bSi) boron emitters formed by ion implantation or diffusion. We demonstrate that conformal metal layers can be deposited on bSi by electron beam evaporation. Raman spectroscopy shows that high boron conce ...

Redox mediators play a major role determining the photocurrent and the photovoltage in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). To maintain the photocurrent, the reduction of oxidized dye by the redox mediator should be significantly faster than the electron bac ...

We present a novel passivating contact structure based on a nanostructured silicon-based layer. Traditional poly-Si junctions feature excellent junction characteristics but their optical absorption induces current losses when applied to the solar cell fron ...

Reducing wafer thickness while increasing power conversion efficiency is the most effective way to reduce cost per Watt of a silicon photovoltaic module. Within the European project 20 percent efficiency on less than 100-mu m-thick, industrially feasible c ...

We present a review on stencil lithography and focus on the particular interest and challenges when applying it to the scalable fabrication of nm-size devices. We first describe the basic technique with its main advantages and challenges. Then we review th ...

Ultrafast optical probing of the electric field by means of Stark effect in planar heterojunction cyanine dye / fullerene organic solar cells enables to directly monitor the dynamics of free electron formation during the dissociation of interfacial charge ...

Metal-oxide-free methylammonium lead iodide perovskite-based solar cells are prepared using a dual-source thermal evaporation method. This method leads to high quality reproducible films with large crystal domain sizes allowing for an in depth study of the ...

Biomarker detection and diagnosis are important steps in the prevention and the treatment of a disease. There is an increasing need for utmost sensitive and robust sensing devices; in this framework, subwavelength (metal) pores could contribute to a concep ...

Gold nanoparticles are widely used in various applications in fields including chemistry, engineering, biology, medicine, and electronics. These materials can be synthesized and modified with ligands containing different functional groups. Among nanopartic ...

Photocatalytic water splitting has been studied extensively as a promising technology for scalable and cost-efficient hydrogen production using solar energy. Although overall water splitting has been achieved under visible light irradiation, significant pr ...

Metal oxide nanoparticles and their applications (e.g. in nano-electronics, nano-optics or drug delivery) have seen a growing interest in the past decades. Traditional procedures to synthesize, functionalize and integrate nanoparticles in devices mostly ha ...
