The inter-site transition dynamics in a 2D honeycomb lattice of the Mott-insulator Li2irO3 was investigated via broadband time-resolved spectroscopy. Through two excitation regime corresponding to charger transfer (3.1eV) and across Mott-gap excitation (0. ...

Tip-enhanced optical effects have enabled a wide palette of nanoscale investigation techniques and recently they were successfully used to modify and manipulate matter with nanoscale spatial resolution. We contribute to this latter area by reporting a viab ...

Cu-based bimetallic catalysts have attracted great attention for the reverse water gas shift (RWGS) reaction due to their high activity and selectivity. This work reports the application of Cu-In bimetallic catalysts for the RWGS reaction and demonstrates ...

In the picture of molecular cavity optomechanics, surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) can be understood as molecular oscillators parametrically coupled to plasmonic nanocavities supporting an extremely localized optical field. This enables SERS from c ...

In order to measure tungsten isotopic composition in presolar stardust grains that contain a limited number of atoms, we developed a new three-photon three-color resonance ionization scheme using titanium:sapphire lasers and the Laser Ionization of Neutral ...

Over the past decade, interatomic potentials based on machine learning (ML) techniques have become an indispensable tool in the atomic-scale modeling of materials. Trained on energies and forces obtained from electronic-structure calculations, they inherit ...

Short wavelength free-electron lasers (FELs), providing pulses of ultrahigh photon intensity, have revolutionized spectroscopy on ionic targets. Their exceptional photon flux enables multiple photon absorptions within a single femtosecond pulse, which in t ...

Iron atoms adsorbed on a Cu(111) surface and buried under polyphenyl dicarbonitrile molecules exhibit strongly spatial anisotropic Kondo features with directionally dependent Kondo temperatures and line shapes, as evidenced by scanning tunneling spectrosco ...

We introduce a nonequilibrium molecular dynamics simulation approach, based on the generalized Langevin equation, to study vibrational energy relaxation in pump probe spectroscopy. A colored noise thermostat is used to selectively excite a set of vibration ...

First-principles molecular dynamics simulations have been employed to analyse the proton diffusion in cubic BaZrO3 perovskite at 1300 K. A non-linear effect on the proton diffusion coefficient arising from an applied isometric strain up to 2 % of the latti ...

Biomarker detection and diagnosis are important steps in the prevention and the treatment of a disease. There is an increasing need for utmost sensitive and robust sensing devices; in this framework, subwavelength (metal) pores could contribute to a concep ...

Nano -and microparticles have optical, structural, and chemical properties that differ from both their building blocks and the bulk materials themselves. These different physical and chemical properties are induced by the high surface-to-volume ratio. As a ...

Proteins are dynamic macromolecules, which accomplish biological function driven by long-range interactions and global motions. While their biological function is often clear, little is known about the collective interactions which make these systems real ...

This work evaluates three techniques of calibrating capacitance (dielectric) spectrometers used for on-line monitoring of biomass: modeling of cell properties using the theoretical Cole-Cole equation, linear regression of dual-frequency capacitance measure ...

The recent phenomenal growth of the field of biotechnology has contributed to a mounting pressure to improve process efficiency and productivity and to increase the quality and safety of end-products. This demand gave rise to the discipline of on-line biop ...

The plasma created during electrical discharge machining is investigated with imaging and spatially-resolved optical emission spectroscopy. Analysis of the pre-breakdown duration shows that the breakdown is of stochastic nature. Due to the presence of gas ...
