Artificial metalloenzymes (ArMs) combine the broad reactivity of transition metals with the exquisite selectivity of enzymes, expanding the scope of biocatalysis beyond natural enzymatic functions. The biotin-streptavidin (Sav) system offers a versatile sc ...

The concept of spin symmetries has gained renewed interest as a valuable tool for classifying unconventional magnetic phases, including altermagnets and recently identified 𝑝-wave magnets. In this work, we show that in compounds with weak spin-orbit coupli ...

N-Heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) are preferred ligands in numerous transformations involving various transition metals. Despite their broad utility, the availability of chiral NHCs for asymmetric catalysis is limited. However, a chiral version of the widely ...

Catalysts play a major role in chemical synthesis, and catalysis is considered to be a green and economic process. Catalysis is dominated by covalent interactions between the catalyst and substrate. The design of non-covalent catalysts came into limelight ...

Kinetically fast racemization of chiral substrates through an achiral intermediate and enantioselective functionalization of one of the enantiomeric substrates forms the basis of the dynamic kinetic resolution (DKR) of centrally chiral molecules. We report ...

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a rapidly growing class of materials that offer great promise in various applications. However, the synthesis remains challenging: for example, a range of crystal structures can often be accessed from the same building b ...

The combination of palladium salts and bipyridyl ligands can lead to the formation of a large variety of coordination complexes, with different shapes and sizes, displaying a very versatile host-guest chemistry. Increasing their structural complexity remai ...

The constant urge to construct new molecules in an economical and sustainable fashion led to the development of numerous metal-catalyzed transformations. Organocatalysts consisting of abundant and more sustainable elements offer an elegant solution to over ...

One tetrahedral and two trigonal prismatic cages with π-basic Au3(pyrazolate)3 faces were obtained by connection of pre-formed gold complexes via dynamic covalent imine chemistry. The parallel arrangement of the Au3(pyrazolate)3 complexes in the prismatic ...

The understanding of mixed ionic-electronic conductivity in hybrid perovskites has enabled major advances in the development of optoelectronic devices based on this class of materials. While recent investigations revealed the potential of using dimensional ...

In materials, certain approximated symmetry operations can exist in a lower-order approximation of the effective model but are good enough to influence the physical responses of the system, and these approximated symmetries were recently dubbed "quasisymme ...

The biological reduction of soluble U(VI) complexes to form immobile U(IV) species has been proposed to remediate contaminated sites. It is well established that multiheme c-type cytochromes (MHCs) are key mediators of electron transfer to aqueous phase U( ...

This study aimed to enhance solar disinfection (SODIS) by the photo-Fenton process, operated at natural pH, through the re-utilization of fruit wastes. For this purpose, pure organic acids present in fruits and alimentary wastes were tested and compared wi ...

Cyclopentadienyl (Cp) metal complexes and their chiral counterparts (CpX) have enabled the development of challenging C-H activation transformations. While major progresses were made in developing new chiral CpX complexes and exploring their reactivity, th ...

Hybrid halide perovskites have demonstrated significant efficiency in detecting a broad spectrum of high-energy radiation, including X-rays, gamma rays (γ-rays), and neutrons. Given the common occurrence of mixed radiation fields, we investigated the perfo ...

Structural and electronic factors are crucial to rationalizethedifferent N,O or N,N chelating coordination of pyrazolones containinga pyridine ring. The reactivity of proligand 3-phenyl-1-(pyridin-2-yl)-5-pyrazolone(HLpy,ph) with the (arene)Ru(II) fragment ...

Solving native structures of such large molecules, like biomolecules, is often challenging, particularly due to the potentially infinite number of non-covalent interactions with water. In this thesis, we report the use of cold ion gas-phase action spectros ...

Helicenes represent an important class of chiral organic material with promising optoelectronic properties. Hence, functionalization of surfaces with helicenes is a key step toward new organic materials devices. The deposition of a heterohelicene containin ...

A water-soluble coordination cage was obtained by reaction of Pd(NO3)2 with a 1,3-di(pyridin-3-yl)benzene ligand featuring a short PEG chain. The cavity of the metal-organic cage contains one nitrate anion, which is readily replaced by chloride. The appare ...

Barocaloric (BC) materials provide cheaper and more energy efficient alternatives to traditional refrigerants. Some liquid alkanes were recently shown to exhibit a colossal BC effect, matching the entropy changes in commercial vapour-liquid refrigerants. D ...
