The inter-site transition dynamics in a 2D honeycomb lattice of the Mott-insulator Li2irO3 was investigated via broadband time-resolved spectroscopy. Through two excitation regime corresponding to charger transfer (3.1eV) and across Mott-gap excitation (0. ...

Tip-enhanced optical effects have enabled a wide palette of nanoscale investigation techniques and recently they were successfully used to modify and manipulate matter with nanoscale spatial resolution. We contribute to this latter area by reporting a viab ...

The discovery of twisted bilayer graphene with tunable superconductivity has diverted great focus at the world of twisted van der Waals heterostructures. Here we propose a paradigm for bilayer materials, where covalent bonding replaces the van der Waals in ...

In order to measure tungsten isotopic composition in presolar stardust grains that contain a limited number of atoms, we developed a new three-photon three-color resonance ionization scheme using titanium:sapphire lasers and the Laser Ionization of Neutral ...

Cu-based bimetallic catalysts have attracted great attention for the reverse water gas shift (RWGS) reaction due to their high activity and selectivity. This work reports the application of Cu-In bimetallic catalysts for the RWGS reaction and demonstrates ...

The material and exact shape of a nanostructure determine its optical response, which is especially strong for plasmonic metals. Unfortunately, only a few plasmonic metals are available, which limits the spectral range where these strong optical effects ca ...

Second harmonic generation and sum frequency generation (SHG and SFG) provide effective means to realize coherent light at desired frequencies when lasing is not easily achievable. They have found applications from sensing to quantum optics and are of part ...

We apply a high-resolution interference microscope with spectral resolution to investigate the scattering response of isolated meta-atoms in real space. The final meta-atoms consist of core-shell clusters that are fabricated using a bottom-up approach. The ...

The residual broadening observed in H-1 spectra of rigid organic solids at natural abundance under 111 kHz magic angle spinning (MAS) is typically a few hundred Hertz. Here we show that refocusable and non-refocusable interactions contribute roughly equall ...

Short wavelength free-electron lasers (FELs), providing pulses of ultrahigh photon intensity, have revolutionized spectroscopy on ionic targets. Their exceptional photon flux enables multiple photon absorptions within a single femtosecond pulse, which in t ...

We propose and demonstrate a versatile technique to measure the lifetime of the one-phonon Fock state using two-color pump-probe Raman scattering and spectrally resolved, time-correlated photon counting. Following pulsed laser excitation, the n = 1 phonon ...

We introduce a nonequilibrium molecular dynamics simulation approach, based on the generalized Langevin equation, to study vibrational energy relaxation in pump probe spectroscopy. A colored noise thermostat is used to selectively excite a set of vibration ...

We present a novel passivating contact structure based on a nanostructured silicon-based layer. Traditional poly-Si junctions feature excellent junction characteristics but their optical absorption induces current losses when applied to the solar cell fron ...
