We introduce a “radial” two-point invariant for quantum field theory in de Sitter (dS) analogous to the radial coordinate used in conformal field theory. We show that the two-point function of a free massive scalar in the Bunch-Davies vacuum has an exponen ...

We study aspects of chaos and thermodynamics at strong coupling in a scalar model using LCT numerical methods. We find that our eigenstate spectrum satisfies Wigner-Dyson statistics and that the coefficients describing eigenstates in our basis satisfy Rand ...

In this thesis we propose and analyze algorithms for some numerical linear algebra tasks: finding low-rank approximations of matrices, computing matrix functions, and estimating the trace of matrices. In the first part, we consider algorithms for building ...

Cakoni and Nguyen recently proposed very general conditions on the coefficients of Maxwell equations for which they established the discreten ess of the set of eigenvalues of the transmission problem and studied their locations. In this paper, we establish ...

Functional time series analysis, whether based on time or frequency domain methodology, has traditionally been carried out under the assumption of complete observation of the constituent series of curves, assumed stationary. Nevertheless, as is often the c ...

We study the notions of mild solution and generalized solution to a linear stochastic partial differential equation driven by a pure jump symmetric Levy white noise, with symmetric alpha-stable Levy white noise as an important special case. We identify con ...

We study the 2-dimensional Ising model at critical temperature on a simply connected subset of the square grid Z2. The scaling limit of the critical Ising model is conjectured to be described by Conformal Field Theory; in particular, there is expected to b ...

We revisit the question of frame equivalence in Quantum Field Theory in the presence of gravity, a situation of relevance for theories aiming to describe the early Universe dynamics and Inflation in particular. We show that in those cases, the path integra ...

In scale-invariant theories of gravity the Planck mass M-p, which appears due to spontaneous symmetry breaking, can be the only scale at the classical level. It was argued that the second scale can be generated by a quantum nonperturbative gravitational ef ...

We present a novel statistically-based discretization paradigm and derive a class of maximum a posteriori (MAP) estimators for solving ill-conditioned linear inverse problems. We are guided by the theory of sparse stochastic processes, which specifies cont ...

The thesis represents an investigation into Conformal Field Theories (CFT's) in arbitrary dimensions. We propose an innovative method to extract informations about CFT's in a quantitative way. Studying the crossing symmetry of the four point function of sc ...

We derive for the first time the limiting distribution of maxima of skew-t random vectors and we show that its limiting case, as the degree of freedom goes to infinity, is the skewed version of the well-known FlOsler-Reiss model. The advantage of the new f ...

We address the problem of blind audio source separation in the under-determined and convolutive case. The contribution of each source to the mixture channels in the time-frequency domain is modeled by a zero-mean Gaussian random vector with a full rank cov ...

The thesis is a contribution to extreme-value statistics, more precisely to the estimation of clustering characteristics of extreme values. One summary measure of the tendency to form groups is the inverse average cluster size. In extreme-value context, th ...
