Contemporary artificial intelligence (AI) models' exponentially growing complexity translates to their expanding skill sets. They can create language or image content mimicking human creativity and understanding, becoming indispensable tools in education, ...

Computing has long been central to technological advancements, where each leap in compute power has catalyzed applications once thought impossible, such as smartphones. Recently, the exponential growth in the compute demand of artificial intelligence (AI) ...

Small-angle-scattering tensor tomography is a technique for studying anisotropic nanostructures of millimetre-sized samples in a volume-resolved manner. It requires the acquisition of data through repeated tomographic rotations about an axis which is subje ...

We investigate the degradation mechanisms of In0.2Ga0.8N/GaN light emitting diodes through combined experimental analysis and simulations. The devices were submitted to constant current stress at 100 mA. Depending on the measuring current level, two degrad ...

The continuous reduction of the structural size in nanotechnology slowed down over the last decade, approaching the natural limit of single atoms as building blocks of matter. Therefore, intensive research is directed toward exploring new frontiers, in par ...

Ever growing pixel acquisition rates in the fields of augmented reality, autonomous driving and robotics have increased interest in solid state beam scanning without moving parts. Modern photonic integrated laser ranging advances towards passive beam steer ...

In recent years, the automotive industry has aspired to bring self-driving vehicles to the general public and light detection and ranging (LiDAR) sensors have emerged as the preferred solution for car vision systems. At present, LiDAR technologies employ e ...

The EU FASTGRID project aimed at improving the REBCO conductor in order to enhance its economical attractiveness for the Superconducting Fault Current Limiter (SFCL). Two approaches were simultaneously investigated: i) the reduction of the tape length thro ...

After providing a detailed overview of nanofabrication techniques for plasmonics, we discuss in detail two different approaches for the fabrication of metallic nanostructures based on e-beam lithography. The first approach relies on a negative e-beam resis ...

Electrochemical sensors have found a wide range of applications in analytical chemistry thanks to the advent of high-throughput printing technologies. However, these techniques are usually limited to two-dimensional (2D) geometry with relatively large mini ...

The thermomechanical properties of materials are among the most important properties for designing precision instruments, in particular for devices seeking high-dimensional stability, invariant temperature-elastic properties or low thermoelastic losses. De ...

We study Kerr frequency combs and dissipative Kerr solitons in silicon photonic crystal coupled-cavity waveguides (CCWs) with globally optimized dispersion at telecom wavelengths. The corresponding threshold for comb generation is found to explicitly depen ...

Intermediate band gap semiconductors are an underex-plored class of materials with unique optical properties of interest for photovoltaic and optoelectronic applications. Herein, we synthesize highly crystalline cubic Cu3VS4 nanocrystals with tunable edge ...
