Reconstructing 3D shape from 2D sketches has long been an open problem because the sketches only provide very sparse and ambiguous information. In this paper, we use an encoder/decoder architecture for the sketch to mesh translation. When integrated into a ...

Impressive progress in 3D shape extraction led to representations that can capture object geometries with high fidelity. In parallel, primitive-based methods seek to represent objects as semantically consistent part arrangements. However, due to the simpli ...

The human face plays an essential role in social interactions as it brings information about someone's identity, state of mind, or mood. People are, by nature, very good at catching this non-spoken information. Therefore, scientists have been interested in ...

This paper introduces a pipeline to parametrically sample and render static multi-task vision datasets from comprehensive 3D scans from the real-world. In addition to enabling interesting lines of research, we show the tooling and generated data suffice to ...

Progress in optics technology has enriched our daily lives in many ways. Various types of single-photon detector technologies have emerged in the last century. Among these, single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) technology outperforms other detectors for its ...

We present a computational inverse design method for a new class of surface-based inflatable structure. Our deployable structures are fabricated by fusing together two layers of inextensible sheet material along carefully selected curves. The fusing curves ...

LiftPose3D infers three-dimensional poses from two-dimensional data or from limited three-dimensional data. The approach is illustrated for videos of behaving Drosophila, mice, rats and macaques. ...

CNN-based volumetric methods that label individual voxels now dominate the field of biomedical segmentation. However, 3D surface representations are often required for proper analysis. They can be obtained by post-processing the labeled volumes which typic ...

We disclose a method for synthesizing by computer an artwork where 2D and 3D contents are integrated within a same composition. Such an artwork creates plausible effects for the viewers by showing a different relationship between 2D and 3D at each viewing ...

Computer generated optical volume elements have been investigated for information storage, spectral filtering, and imaging applications. Advancements in additive manufacturing (3D printing) allow the fabrication of multilayered diffractive volume elements ...
