In this paper, we consider experimental data available for graphene-based nanolubricants to evaluate their convective heat transfer performance by means of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. Single-phase models with temperature-dependent prope ...

This thesis introduces spectroscopy-free Raman biosensing, which may find increasing use in the next generation of wearable devices for preventive healthcare. While wearables have made substantial advancements in detecting physical biomarkers, they have ye ...

This second segment of a two-part study investigates the numerical modeling of the Navier slip boundary condition at the contact line at the junction of free and solid surfaces, a key element in many natural and technological processes. The first segment i ...

The thesis is dedicated to the study of two main partial differential equations (PDEs) in fluid dynamics: the Navier-Stokes equations, which describe the motion of incompressible fluids, and the transport equation with divergence-free velocity fields, whic ...

Permanent CO storage in basalts through mineralisation offers a promising solution for reducing carbon emissions and mitigating climate change. This study focuses on the impact of potential mineralisation on the flow properties of the basaltic material. Fl ...

This study evaluates available analytical wake models for flow prediction inside and downstream of wind farms of different sizes and layouts using large-eddy simulation (LES), and introduces an enhanced analytical framework. All the tested analytical wake ...

BackgroundImpaired cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) dynamics is involved in the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases of the central nervous system and the optic nerve (ON), including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, as well as frontotemporal dementia ...

In the attempt to reduce fuel consumption, a new generation of Ultra-High-By-Pass-Ratio (UHBR) turbofans have been introduced in the aeronautic industry which are structurally noisier especially at lower frequencies, because of their larger diameter, lower ...

The effects of apparatus-induced dispersion on nonuniform, density-dependent flow in a cylindrical soil column were investigated using a finite-element model. To validate the model, the results with an analytical solution and laboratory column test data we ...

The present relates to a system for automated cell culture, the system comprising an inflow module, a cell culture plate and an outflow module, said inflow module being in fluid connection with the outflow module via the cell culture plate, the inflow modu ...
