Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) stand out as prospective organic-based photocatalysts given their intriguing optoelectronic properties, such as visible light absorption and high charge-carrier mobility. The "Clean, Uniform, Refined with Automatic Tracki ...

Electricity storage technologies in buildings are evolving, mainly to reduce their environmental impact and to improve self-sufficiency of buildings that produce their own energy through Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) installations. To maximize s ...

The role of alkali promoters in N-2 cleavage by metal complexes remains poorly understood despite its relevance to the industrial production of ammonia from N-2. Here we report a series of alkali bound-oxo-bridged diuranium(iii) complexes that provide a un ...

Clean energy is highly needed at this time when the energy requirements are rapidly increasing. The observed increasing energy requirement are largely due to continued industrialization and global population explosion. The current means of energy source is ...

In this work, alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) processes of three typical nickel-based electrocatalysts [i.e., Ni, alpha-Ni(OH)(2), and beta-Ni(OH)(2)] were investigated to probe critical factors that determine the activity and durability. The HE ...

Helicon plasma sources operating with hydrogen or deuterium might be attractive for fusion applications due to their higher power efficiency compared to inductive radiofrequency plasma sources. In recent years, the resonant antenna ion device (RAID) has be ...

Herein, a newly developed non-noble metal water splitting catalyst based on NiCuCoS3 was reported. Water splitting catalysts are largely developed with noble-based transition metals to lower the energy requirement for the overall water splitting reactions. ...

Nowadays, molybdenum carbides (Mo2C) represent alternative electrocatalysts to noble metal for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Here, a fast and simple process is proposed for the fabrication of Mo2C-based electrocatalysts on a carbon cloth substrate ...

Utilizing earth-abundant metals to design economical and efficient electrocatalysts for cathodic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and anodic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is critical for acquiring clean hydrogen energy by the electrochemical overall wat ...

The conversion of intermittent renewable energy resources in the form of chemical bond, such as hydrogen production from electrochemical water splitting, is a promising way to satisfy the future global energy demand and address the environmental issues. Th ...

Designing cost-effective electrocatalysts for electrochemical water splitting to generate the hydrogen energy as a future energy source is pivotal. An excellent catalyst should show high catalytic activity for both hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxy ...

The electrochemical splitting of water holds promise for the storage of energy produced intermittently by renewable energy sources. The evolution of hydrogen currently relies on the use of platinum as a catalyst-which is scarce and expensive-and ongoing re ...

Photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting is a promising clean route to hydrogen fuel. The best-performing materials (III/V semiconductors) require surface passivation, as they are liable to corrosion, and a surface co-catalyst to facilitate water splitti ...

Alkaline anion exchange membrane (AEM) water electrolysis is a promising technology for producing hydrogen using renewable energies. However, current AEM electrolyzers still employ noble-metal-containing electrocatalysts, or have significant overpotential ...

The performance of rhodium complex [Cp*Rh(bis(pyrazol-1-yl)methane)Cl]Cl was evaluated for formic acid dehydrogenation in aqueous solution. Solid-state X-ray diffraction helped to confirm the catalyst structure. Multinuclear NMR spectroscopy was employed t ...

We discuss grand canonical simulations based on density-functional theory to study the thermodynamic properties of electrochemical interfaces of metallic electrodes in aqueous environments. Water is represented using implicit solvation, here via the self-c ...

The electrochemical water splitting reaction can convert renewable electricity into clean hydrogen fuel. The efficiency of water splitting is limited to a large extent by the sluggish oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Numerous transition metal oxides have b ...

Water electrolysis is a promising approach to hydrogen production from renewable energy sources. Alkaline water electrolyzers allow using non-noble and low-cost materials. An analysis of common assumptions and experimental conditions (low concentrations, l ...

This thesis deals with different aspects of renewable energy transformation and storage concepts and connects them. Although renewable energy installations are growing worldwide, their use is limited by storage technologies. As such, water splitting for hy ...

Due to its high sensitivity to corrosion, the use of Si in direct photoelectrochemical (PEC) water-splitting systems that convert solar energy into chemical fuels has been greatly limited. Therefore, the development of low-cost materials resistant to corro ...
