A large variety of new physics models suggest that the rates for lepton flavour violating

-hadron decays may be much higher than predicted in the Standard Model, which leads to a high interest in the search for such decays. This thesis presents the se ...

Combining superconducting resonators and quantum dots has triggered tremendous progress in quantum information, however, attempts at coupling a resonator to even charge parity spin qubits have resulted only in weak spin-photon coupling. Here, we integrate ...

A search for the rare eta -> mu(+)mu(-)mu(+)mu(-) double-Dalitz decay is performed using a sample of proton-proton collisions, collected by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC with high-rate muon triggers during 2017 and 2018 and corresponding to an integra ...

Molecules with inversion of the singlet and triplet excited-state energies are highly promising for the development of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). To date, azaphenalenes are the only class of molecules where these inversions have been identified ...

The sensitivity of NMR spectroscopy is considerably enhanced by dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP). In DNP polarization is transferred from unpaired electrons of a polarizing agent to nearby proton spins. In solids, this transfer is followed by the transpo ...

This PhD thesis aims at testing one of the fundamental properties of the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics: the lepton flavour universality (LFU), which states that

bosons are equally coupled to the three lepton generations. In this work, ...

We study the evolution of magnetic fields coupled with chiral fermion asymmetry in the framework of chiral magnetohydrodynamics with zero initial total chirality. The initial magnetic field has a turbulent spectrum peaking at a certain characteristic scale ...

Recent neutron-diffraction experiments in honeycomb CrI3 quasi-2D ferromagnets have evinced the existence of a gap at the Dirac point in their spin-wave spectra. The existence of this gap has been attributed to strong in-plane Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya or Kita ...

The reversible isomerism of indolinospirobenzopyrans is perhaps among the most studied phenomena in the field of molecular switches. Although they began to gain attention as early as 70 years ago following the seminal work of Hirshberg and Fischer, who wer ...

The magnetic propertiesof transition-metal ions aregenerallydescribed by the atomic spins of the ions and their exchange coupling. The orbital moment, usually largely quenched due the ligand field,is then seen as a perturbation. In such a scheme, S = 1/2 io ...

A search is reported for pairs of light Higgs bosons (H-1) produced in supersymmetric cascade decays in final states with small missing transverse momentum. A data set of LHC pp collisions collected with the CMS detector at root s = 13 TeV and correspondin ...

The existence of nonzero neutrino masses points to the likely existence of multiple Standard Model neutral fermions. When such states are heavy enough that they cannot be produced in oscillations, they are referred to as heavy neutral leptons (HNLs). In th ...

Rashba materials have appeared as an ideal playground for spin-to-charge conversion in prototype spintronics devices. Among them, alpha-GeTe(111) is a non-centrosymmetric ferroelectric semiconductor for which a strong spin-orbit interaction gives rise to g ...

It has been well established experimentally that the interplay of electronic correlations and spin-orbit interactions in Ir4+ and Ir5+ oxides results in insulating J(eff) = 1/2 and J(eff) = 0 ground states, respectively. However, in compounds where the str ...

We introduce turboMagnon, an implementation of the Liouville-Lanczos approach to linearized time-dependent density-functional theory, designed to simulate spin-wave spectra in solid-state materials. The code is based on the noncollinear spin-polarized fram ...

Computing the GW quasiparticle band structure and Bethe-Salpeter equation (BSE) absorption spectra for materials with spin-orbit coupling have commonly been done by treating GW corrections and spin-orbit coupling (SOC) as separate perturbations to density- ...

We report the results of a search for a new vector boson (A') decaying into two dark matter particles chi 1 chi 2 of different mass. The heavier chi(2) particle subsequently decays to chi 1 and an off-shell Dark Photon A'* -> e(+)e(-). For a sufficiently l ...

The Standard Model of particle physics provides predictions of many fundamental processes. One of them is the existence of charmless processes involving only baryons, namely charmless purely baryonic decays of baryons. Yet none of these decay modes has bee ...

This article reports the first measurement of prompt chi(c1) and chi(c2) charmonium production in nuclear collisions at Large Hadron Collider energies. The cross-section ratio sigma(chi(c2))/sigma(chi(c1)) is measured in pPb collisions at root s(NN) = 8.16 ...

A search is performed for the rare decay W-+/--> pi(+/-)gamma in proton-proton collisions at root s = 13 TeV. Data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137 fb(-1) were collected during 2016 to 2018 with the CMS detector. This analysis exploits a no ...
