In this work, isogeometric mortaring is used for the simulation of a six-pole permanent magnet synchronous machine. Isogeometric mortaring is especially well suited for the efficient computation of rotating electric machines, as it allows for an exact geom ...

Gravitational lensing - the deflection of light by gravity - has greatly developed since its famous first observation in 1919, which validated Einstein's General Theory of Relativity. The strength of this effect does not depend on the nature of the mass wh ...

We perform a numerical bootstrap study of the mixed correlator system containing the half-BPS operators of dimension two and three in N = 4 Super Yang-Mills. This setup improves on previous works in the literature that only considered single correlators of ...

Strong gravitational is a natural phenomenon that produces distorted images of distant galaxies due to massive galaxies or clusters, called deflectors or lenses, lying along the line of sight. Due to the mass of the deflector, and as a result of general re ...

We test general relativity (GR) at the effective redshift (z) over tilde similar to 1.5 by estimating the statistic E-G, a probe of gravity, on cosmological scales 19 - 190 h(-1)Mpc. This is the highest redshift and largest scale estimation of E-G so far. ...

We present a new, updated version of the EuclidEmulator (called EuclidEmulator2), a fast and accurate predictor for the nonlinear correction of the matter power spectrum. 2 per cent level accurate emulation is now supported in the eight-dimensional paramet ...

During these last decades, by virtue of observations, the Standard Cosmological Model has emerged, providing a description of the Universe's evolution using a minimal set of independent constraints - the cosmological parameters. Among them is the expansion ...

We study the stability of the Electroweak (EW) vacuum in a scale-invariant extension of the Standard Model and General Relativity, known as a Higgs-Dilaton theory. The safety of the EW vacuum against possible transition towards another vacuum is a necessar ...

We theoretically investigate chaotic and stable structures in coupled-resonator chains and synthetic frequency dimension influenced by Kerr nonlinearity, thereby bringing insights in the emerging field of soliton generation in chains and lattices of high-Q ...

We present high signal-to-noise galaxy-galaxy lensing measurements of the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey constant mass (CMASS) sample using 250 deg(2) of weak-lensing data from Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope Lensing Survey and Canada-France-Hawaii ...

We present the cosmological implications from final measurements of clustering using galaxies, quasars, and Ly alpha forests from the completed Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) lineage of experiments in large-scale structure. These experiments, composed of ...

The conformational free energy landscape of aspartic acid, a proteogenic amino acid involved in a wide variety of biological functions, was investigated as an example of the complexity that multiple rotatable bonds produce even in relatively simple molecul ...

Simulating the dynamics and the non-equilibrium steady state of an open quantum system are hard computational tasks on conventional computers. For the simulation of the time evolution, several efficient quantum algorithms have recently been developed. Howe ...

In the present paper, we revisit gravitational theories which are invariant under TDiffs-transverse (volume-preserving) diffeomorphisms and global scale transformations. It is known that these theories can be rewritten in an equivalent diffeomorphism-invar ...

We present a leptogenesis mechanism based on the standard type-I seesaw model that successfully operates at right-handed-neutrino masses as low as a few hundred TeV. This mechanism, which we dub wash-in leptogenesis, does not require any CP violation in th ...

Following the original idea of Debye, we define and extract a gauge-invariant screening mass from the complex static in-medium heavy-quark potential V-Q (Q) over bar, recently obtained from lattice QCD. To this end we derive a formula using concepts from b ...

Combining experimental and ab initio core-level photoelectron spectroscopy (periodic DFT and quantum chemistry calculations), we elucidated how ammonia molecules bond to the hydroxyls of the (H,OH)-Si(001) model surface at a temperature of 130 K. Indeed, t ...

In a six-year program started in 2014 July, the Extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (eBOSS) will conduct novel cosmological observations using the BOSS spectrograph at Apache Point Observatory. These observations will be conducted simultaneous ...

The effect of orientation of the NO(X) bond axis prior to rotationally inelastic collisions with Ar has been investigated experimentally and theoretically. A modification to conventional velocity-map imaging ion optics is described, which allows the orient ...

We exhibit non-equivariant perturbations of the blowup solutions constructed in [18] for energy critical wave maps into

\mathbb{S}^2

. Our admissible class of perturbations is an open set in some sufficiently smooth topology and vanishes near the light co ...
