The controlled modification of the electronic properties of ZnO nanorods via transition metal doping is reported. A series of ZnO nanorods were synthesized by chemical bath growth with varying Co content from 0 to 20 atomic% in the growth solution. Optoele ...

Earth-abundant and low-cost semiconductors, such as zinc phosphide (Zn3P2), are promising candidates for the next generation photovoltaic applications. However, synthesis on commercially available substrates, which favors the formation of defects, and cont ...

This thesis presents a study of the magnetism of surface supported atoms performed principally with XMCD spectroscopy and multiplet calculations. The objective of the research was twofold: first, to study the underlying interactions and conditions governi ...

We report a detailed spectroscopic study of Ti3+ self-doped TiO2 nanowires prepared by high temperature annealing of the protonated titanate nanowires (TiONW) in hydrogen atmosphere. Hydrogenation causes a color change from white to cyan and a major increa ...

Time-resolved electronic spectra can be obtained as the Fourier transform of a special type of time correlation function known as fidelity amplitude, which, in turn, can be evaluated approximately and efficiently with the dephasing representation. Here we ...

We review our recent studies of excited state structures and dynamics of chemical and biological systems with pico- and femtosecond X-ray absorption spectroscopy in the liquid phase. ...

We describe a new spectrometer for spin resolved photoemission from solids in the soft x-ray energy range. It is mounted on the ID08 beamline at the ESRF light source and consists of a time-of-flight (TOF) energy analyzer coupled to a retarding mini-Mott s ...

Ultracapacitors, also called electrochemical double layer capacitors (EDLC) or supercapacitors, may improve the performance of conventional electrolytic capacitors in terms of specific energy, or improve the performance of rechargeable batteries in terms o ...

Dielectric barrier discharges (DBDs) are investigated in helium and nitrogen as a function of pressure from 5 to 1000 mbar. Different regimes are observed: glow, Townsend, multi-peak and filamentary, depending on pressure, power and electrode gap. In heliu ...
