This paper presents a general analytical model for predicting the magnetic field of slotless permanent-magnet machines. The model takes into account the effect of eddy currents in conductive regions and notably in conductive permanent magnets without negle ...

The development of very high-speed motors has evolved fascinatingly in the last few years. Due to their speed, their low weight and their high power density, the need for such motors has recently increased for various different applications. Among them, su ...

Coated conductors are very promising for the design of novel and efficient resistive Fault Current Limiters (FCLs). However, a detailed knowledge about their thermal and electromagnetic behaviors in the presence of over- critical currents is crucial for th ...

Iterative Learning Control (ILC) is a technique used to improve the tracking performance of systems carrying out repetitive tasks, which are affected by deterministic disturbances. The achievable performance is greatly degraded, however, when non-repeating ...

n large cities, due to expensive land price, high-rise buildings are built, in which the space dedicated to the elevators is considerable and reduces the rented surfaces. To decrease these lost surfaces, a Multi Mobile System is proposed. It consists of se ...

Flexural and torsional rigidity are important properties of skis. However, the flexural and torsional rigidity that lead to optimal performance remain to be established. In the present study, four pairs of slalom skis that differed in flexural and torsiona ...

Initially, linear motors have been particularly dedicated to transportation systems. Nowadays, linear motors are meant to replace a system using a rotating motor and a transmission to realize a linear movement. With linear motors the performances increase ...

Worldwide high speed Maglev (> 400km/h) developments refer to Maglev such as the Japanese JR-Maglev MLX, the German Transrapid and the USA Inductrack Maglev. Other world projects exist such as the Japan HSST (< 300km/h) and the China HTC. The JR-Maglev, th ...

In the last twenty years, the widespread use of sensitive electronic devices has increased the interest on transients, in particular those caused by lightning (direct and/or indirect). The paper presents first shortly the developments in modeling the elect ...

SWISSMETRO is a MAGLEV Project, designed for a speed up to 500 km/h in two tunnels under partial vacuum. The authors investigate new possibilities to combine the propulsion and levitation. Polarized inductors for the levitation are studied, implying a pola ...
