In addition to a reduced number of feeders, which would simplify their integration in the cryostat of the tokamak, the present study considers the possibility to reduce the voltage during safety discharge of the toroidal field (TF) coils. A lowered dischar ...

Experimental data show that in laboratory sparks, X-rays are produced in time synchronization with the meeting of streamers of opposite polarity just before the final breakdown of the discharge gap. It has been suggested that the electric field enhancement ...

EDIPO 2 (the upgraded EDIPO test facility) will provide a unique testbed for superconducting cables for fusion magnets, accelerators, and other applications. Compared to the previous magnet assembly, the magnetic field is enhanced from 12.35 T to 15 T, the ...

For long-pulse tokamaks, one of the main challenges in the control strategy is to simultaneously reach multiple control objectives and to robustly handle in real-time (RT) unexpected events [off-normal-events (ONEs)] with a limited set of actuators. We hav ...

This publication presents the characterization of self discharging Dielectric Elastomer Actuators (DEAs) in order to give place to low duty cycle applications, during which a DEA must remain actuated for long periods of time. DEAs typically present a low c ...

Storage is an important domain of the energy sector, with its traditional, classical solutions for smaller and larger amounts of energy. Energy storage has become of higher importance in relation with the development of alternative energy sources, leading ...

For dielectric elastomer actuators (DEAs) to find more widespread adoption in commercial products, a better understanding of their durability is needed. By determining the different mechanisms contributing to ageing and breakdown in DEAs, new methods for i ...

Current agricultural practices are not sustainable; however, the non-thermal plasma treatment of seeds may be an eco-friendly alternative to alter macroscopic plant growth parameters. Despite numerous successful results of plasma-seed treatments reported i ...

Soil biodegradable mulch films composed of the polyester polybutylene adipate-co-terephthalate (PBAT) are being increasingly used in agriculture. Analytical methods to quantify PBAT in field soils are needed to assess its soil occurrence and fate. Here, we ...
