Multiscale modeling has become an indispensable tool in condensed matter physics, physical chemistry, engineering, and materials science. One prominent class of materials, whose properties can rarely be understood on one length and time scale alone, is sof ...

The Heisenberg quantum antiferromagnet on the maple leaf lattice has been shown to feature highly exotic phases, and therefore material realizations are intensely sought after. We determine the magnetic Hamiltonian of the copper mineral bluebellite using d ...

We expand Hilbert series technologies in effective field theory for the inclusion of massive particles, enabling, among other things, the enumeration of operator bases for non-linearly realized gauge theories. We find that the Higgs mechanism is manifest a ...

Physics-informed machine learning (PIML) is a set of methods and tools that systematically integrate machine learning (ML) algorithms with physical constraints and abstract mathematical models developed in scientific and engineering domains. As opposed to ...

Although first principles based anharmonic lattice dynamics is one of the most common methods to obtain phonon properties, such method is impractical for high-throughput search of target thermal materials. We develop an elemental spatial density neural net ...

In the quest for superlattices with engineered interfaces for disruptive applications such as neuromorphic computing, we present a dedicated study on the epitaxial growth of nominal GeTe/Sb2Te3 chalcogenide superlattices (CSL) on the Sb passivated Si(111) ...

In this work, by combining an asymmetric Silicon immersion lens configuration and a complementary resonator design, far-field transmission measurement of a single subwavelength split-ring resonator, ultra-strongly coupled to inter Landau level transitions ...

Quantum many-body dynamics generically result in increasing entanglement that eventually leads to thermalization of local observables. This makes the exact description of the dynamics complex despite the apparent simplicity of (high-temperature) thermal st ...

A sustainable future demands a successful transition from a carbon energy-dependent economy towards renewable energy schemes, many of which ultimately rely on the development of efficient electrocatalysis that either converts chemical energy into electrici ...

Laser photo-detachment combined with a Langmuir probe (LP) is used to diagnose negative ion properties in electronegative plasmas. The technique relies on the combined use of a laser pulse and an LP. The laser pulse converts negative ions into electron-ato ...

In this Letter we demonstrate that what was previously considered as different mechanisms of baryon asymmetry generation involving two right-handed Majorana neutrinos with masses far below the Grand Unified Theory scale-leptogenesis via neutrino oscillatio ...

Since their discovery, graphene and other 2D materials have become a subject of intense research in condensed matter physics. Especially the vast possibilities of combining those materials into heterostructures are promising for the discovery of novel phys ...

Atomically thin films of layered chromium triiodide (CrI3) have recently been regarded as suitable candidates for a wide spectrum of technologically relevant applications, mainly owing to the opportunities they offer for achieving a reversible transition b ...

Considering the natural abundance, the optoelectronic properties, and the electricity production cost, iron pyrite (FeS2) has a strong appeal as a solar cell material. The maximum conversion efficiency of FeS2 solar cells demonstrated to date, however, is ...

Lead-halide perovskite (LHP) semiconductors are emergent optoelectronic materials with outstanding transport properties which are not yet fully understood. We find signatures of large polaron formation in the electronic structure of the inorganic LHP CsPbB ...

The Hall scattering factor, r, is a key quantity for establishing carrier concentration and drift mobility from Hall measurements; in experiments, it is usually assumed to be 1. In this paper, we use a combination of analytical and ab initio modeling to de ...

A macroscopic condition to simulate the interaction between an incompressible fluid flow and a permeable micro-structured rigid surface (i.e. a thin membrane) has been developed using multiscale homogenization and matching asymptotic expansions between the ...
