Fast liquid jets are investigated for use as a needle-free drug delivery system into an elastic tissue such as skin. Using smaller jet diameters in a repetitive regime can mitigate bruising and pain associated with current injectors. In this study, we aim ...

We propose a new control approach for the twisted string actuation (TSA) system; a hybrid control scheme consisting of two nested loops, considering the motor angle and the axial force at the clamping point of the actuator as the system outputs. We show th ...

A system for interacting with a remote object comprising a wearable jacket for a user, two actuators for supporting arms of the user, motors for causing movements to at least one of a torso and the arms of the user, and sensors for measuring at least one o ...

An injection deviee for injecting injection material, comprising: an elastic deformable element (3) able to exert a pushing force on a piston (20) of a syringe (2) so as to eject a quantity of injection material out of the syringe (2); a stopper ( 4) for r ...

Part load operation of high energy centrifugal pumps is associated with increased vibration levels which may adversely affect the machines operational safety. The main sources of vibrations in centrifugal pumps are of hydrodynamic nature. The interaction b ...

The novel species injector of a recently developed research burner, consisting of an array of hypodermic needles, which allows to produce quasi one-dimensional unstrained diffusion flames has been improved. It is used in a new symmetric design with fuel an ...

In this thesis, thermal-diffusive instabilities are studied experimentally in diffusion flames. The novel species injector of a recently developed research burner, consisting of an array of hypodermic needles, which allows to produce quasi one-dimensional ...

We report on the mechanical characterization and modeling of a non-prestretched dielectric elastomer diaphragm microactuator with ion-implanted electrodes under the influence of a distributed load (pressure). Thin polydimethysiloxane (PDMS) membranes (30 u ...
