Diffusion-based generative methods have proven effective in modeling trajectories with offline datasets. However, they often face computational challenges and can falter in generalization, especially in capturing temporal abstractions for long- horizon tas ...

In light of the challenges posed by climate change and the goals of the Paris Agreement, electricity generation is shifting to a more renewable and decentralized pattern, while the operation of systems like buildings is increasingly electrified. This calls ...

The use of soft and stretchable materials allows the development of adaptive robotic systems and human-machine interfaces that are more natural and comfortable to interact with. One of the application fields that benefits the most from these compliant mate ...

Conventional techniques for purifying macromolecular conjugates often require complex and costly installments that are inaccessible to most laboratories. In this work, we develop a one-step micropreparative method based on a trilayered polyacrylamide gel e ...

Dielectric Elastomer Actuators (DEAs) are a type of smart material described as compliant capacitors. They show impressive performances as soft actuators, such as a high strain and fast response. Nonetheless, replicating natural muscle function with DEAs h ...

As demonstrated by the Soft Robotics Toolkit Platform, compliant robotics pose an exciting educational opportunity. Underwater robotics using soft undulating fins is an expansive research topic with applications such as exploration of underwater life or re ...

Given a sequence of functions

f_1,\ldots,f_n

with

f_i:\mathcal{D}\mapsto \mathbb{R}

, finite-sum minimization seeks a point

{x}^\star \in \mathcal{D}

minimizing

\sum_{j=1}^nf_j(x)/n

. In this work, we propose a key twist into the finite-sum minimizat ...

In this paper, we propose a reduced-order modeling strategy for two-way Dirichlet-Neumann parametric coupled problems solved with domain-decomposition (DD) sub-structuring methods. We split the original coupled differential problem into two sub-problems wi ...

Molecular quantum dynamics simulations are essential for understanding many fundamental phenomena in physics and chemistry. They often require solving the time-dependent Schrödinger equation for molecular nuclei, which is challenging even for medium-sized ...

Driven by the need for more efficient and seamless integration of physical models and data, physics -informed neural networks (PINNs) have seen a surge of interest in recent years. However, ensuring the reliability of their convergence and accuracy remains ...

The invention relates to methods for the preparation of method of preparation of Tau aggregates, including fibrils, fibrillar species, soluble and insoluble oligomeric species, new Tau aggregates and uses thereof. The invention further relates to the uses ...

The electrification of the transport sector is a key element in decarbonizing our societies. However, energy systems will have to cope with additional electricity demand due to the charging needs of electric vehicles (EVs) together with the integration of ...

When two objects slide against each other, wear and friction occur at their interface. The accumulation of wear forms what is commonly referred to as a ``third-body''. Understanding third-body evolution has significant applications in industry, where contr ...

We report a soft actuator that generates continuous rotation of an object placed on it by electromagnetically exciting circular travelling waves in a soft disk. The disk, that serves as the stator, is made of a stretchable composite consisting of segments ...

To prevent muscle fatigue or disorder due to long-term or repetitive arm-lifting in scenarios that heavily rely on manual operations, various exoskeletons have been developed previously. However, the exoskeletons with motors suffer from heavy mass and high ...

We describe a novel method to compute the components of dynamo tensors from direct magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulations. Our method relies upon an extension and generalization of the standard H & ouml;gbom CLEAN algorithm widely used in radio astronomy to ...

EC RF power sources will play a major role in the future operation of large scale tokamaks (ITER, DEMO). A 1MW/170GHz gyrotron is the standard RF power unit considered for ITER. Even though the efficiency of such devices has been significantly increased th ...

The load tracking performance of combined cooling, heating, and power multi-energy system (CCHP-MES) greatly depends on the equipment capacity configuration. And the frequent fluctuations in the source-load uncertainty puts higher demands on the load track ...

The current study performs the thermodynamic and life-cycle assessments (LCA) of a novel charging station in two system designs. The goal is to design an efficient charging station for electric vehicles with high efficiencies and low environmental impacts ...

We introduce contextual stochastic bilevel optimization (CSBO) -- a stochastic bilevel optimization framework with the lower-level problem minimizing an expectation conditioned on some contextual information and the upper-level decision variable. This fram ...
