The first test of lepton flavor universality between muons and electrons using B+→K+π+π-ℓ+ℓ- (ℓ=e, μ) decays is presented. The measurement is performed with data from proton-proton collisions collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7 ...

Using 9.0 fb(-1) of e(+)e(-) collision data collected at center-of-mass energies from 4.178 to 4.278 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we perform the first search for the radiative transition chi(c1) (3872) -> chi psi(3823). No signal is ...

The results of a search for Higgs boson pair (HH) production in the (WWWW*)-W-, WWtau tau, and tau tau tau tau decay modes are presented. The search uses 138 fb(-1) of proton-proton collision data recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC at a center-of- ...

The tension between different determinations of the CKM matrix element Vub using measurements of either exclusive or inclusive semileptonic decays represents a long-standing puzzle in flavour physics. To resolve this, measurements of new exclusive channels ...

A generic search is presented for the associated production of a Z boson or a photon with an additional unspecified massive particle X, pp -> pp + Z/gamma + X, in proton-tagged events from proton-proton collisions at root s = 13 TeV, recorded in 2017 with ...

We present a validation of the Dark Energy Survey Year 3 (DES Y3) 3 x 2-point analysis choices by testing them on BUZZARD2.0, a new suite of cosmological simulations that is tailored for the testing and validation of combined galaxy clustering and weak-len ...

Dwarf spheroidal galaxies are excellent systems to probe the nature of fermionic dark matter due to their high observed dark matter phase-space density. In this work, we review, revise, and improve upon previous phase-space considerations to obtain lower b ...

Phase transitions of thermal systems and the laser threshold were first connected more than forty years ago. Despite the nonequilibrium nature of the laser, the Landau theory of thermal phase transitions, applied directly to the Scully-Lamb laser model (SL ...

The prompt production of +c baryons is studied in proton- lead collisions collected with the LHCb detector at the LHC. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1 : 58 nb recorded at a nucleon- nucleon centre- of- mass energy of p sNN = 5 ...

A search for a long-lived scalar particle. is performed, looking for the decay B+ -> K+chi with chi ->mu(+)mu(-) pp collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1), collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of root s ...

A measurement of the time-integrated CP asymmetry in the Cabibbo-suppressed decay D-0 -> K- K+ is performed using pp collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1), collected with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and ...

Three dimensional single particle trapping and manipulation is an outstanding challenge in various fields ranging from basic physics to life sciences. By monitoring the response of a trapped particle to a designed environment one can extract its characteri ...

We report a measurement of the time-dependent CP asymmetry of (B) over bar (0) -> D(CP)((*))h(0) decays, where the light neutral hadron h(0) is a pi(0), eta , or omega meson, and the neutral D meson is reconstructed in the CP eigenstates K+K-, K-S(0)pi(0) ...

A model-dependent amplitude analysis of B-+/- -> DK +/- with D -> K-s(0)pi(+)pi(-) decays is performed using proton proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1 fb(-1), recorded by LHCb at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV in 2011. ...

The polarisation of prompt mesons is measured by performing an angular analysis of decays using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0, collected by the LHCb detector at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. The polarisa ...

We study Higgs couplings in the composite Higgs model based on the coset SO(5)/SO(4). We show that the couplings to gluons and photons are insensitive to the elementary-composite mixings and thus not affected by light fermionic resonances. Moreover, at lea ...

Limits on the cross-section times branching fraction for neutral Higgs bosons, produced in p p collisions at root s = 7 TeV, and decaying to two tau leptons with pseudorapidities between 2.0 and 4.5, are presented. The result is based on a dataset, corresp ...

Measurements of inclusive W and Z boson production cross-sections in p p collisions at root s = 7TeV using final states containing muons are presented. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 37 pb(-1) collected with the LHCb detector. T ...

In this work we address one of the phenomenological issues of beyond the Standard Model scenarios which embed Supersymmetry, namely the Supersymmetric Flavour Problem, in the context of String Theory. Indeed, the addition of new interactions to the Standar ...
