Valorizing CO2 into chemical building blocks via efficient electrified processes could significantly decrease carbon emissions. In this work, a device that allows generation of tunable micro‐plasma modes (arc, pulsed, pulsed arc) on a chip for efficient, l ...

During coupling with carbon dioxide reduction reactions (CO2RR), plastic reforming as an effective alternative anodic reaction to replace oxygen evolution reaction (OER), offers dual benefits of reducing energy consumption and producing valuable chemicals. ...

The aluminium sector relies on natural gas for the conversion of recycled scrap into new feedstock, which results in substantial atmospheric emissions. Hydric resources are also impacted, as they serve as heat sinks for the waste heat generated during the ...

Climate action to achieve the Paris Agreement should respect the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Here, we use an integrated assessment modelling framework comprising nine climate policy models and quantify the impacts of decarbonisation pathw ...

It is highly uncertain how the humidity flux between the snow surface and the atmosphere contributes to the surface mass balance (SMB) of the interior Greenland Ice Sheet (GrIS). Due to sparse observations, evaluations of the simulated humidity flux are li ...

In accordance with the Paris agreement, the Swiss Climate Strategy (SCS) defines the net-zero target to be reached before 2050, which demands for a thoughtful carbon budget allocation between the different contributors. Ongoing normalization tasks are curr ...

Heat pumps will play an important role in improving the performance of the industrial processes aiming to decarbonize their heating requirements. Yet, defining the best operating conditions of those devices may be a challenging task, as they are embedded i ...

Solar fuel production using a photoelectrochemical (PEC) cell is considered as an effective solution to address the climate change caused by CO2 emissions, as well as the ever-growing global demand for energy. Like all other solar energy utilization techno ...

Snow is the largest component of the cryosphere, with its cover and distribution rapidly decreasing over the last decade due to climate warming. It is imperative to characterize the snow (nival) microbial communities to better understand the role of microo ...

With the 2010/31/EU directive, all new buildings shall be nearly zero-energy buildings (nZEB) from 2020 onward, with the aim of strongly reducing the energy consumption related to the building sector. To achieve this goal, it is not sufficient to focus on ...

Stratospheric aerosol injection (SAI), a type of solar radiation modification (SRM), has the potential to reduce global warming caused by excessive greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. However, there is currently widespread opposition to it, because deployi ...

We demonstrate the ability of tetraalkylammonium borohydrides to capture large amounts of CO2, even at low CO2 concentrations, and reduce it to formate under ambient conditions. These materials show CO2 absorption capacities up to 30 mmolCO2 g(-1) at room ...
