State-specific complete active space self-consistent field (SS-CASSCF) theory has emerged as a promising route to accurately predict electronically excited energy surfaces away from molecular equilibria. However, its accuracy and practicality for chemical ...

We prove an identity relating the permanent of a rank 2 matrix and the determinants of its Hadamard powers. When viewed in the right way, the resulting formula looks strikingly similar to an identity of Carlitz and Levine, suggesting the possibility that t ...

Entrepreneurship is a highly contextualized process. Yet, the vast majority of entrepreneurship research has focused on Western contexts, yielding a skewed picture of global entrepreneurial behavior. Moreover, theories of mainstream psychology explaining t ...

We design a consecution of protocols which allows organizations to have secure strong access control of their users to their desktop machines based on biometry. It provides both strong secure authentication and privacy. Moreover, our mechanism allows the s ...

Creating new ventures is one of the most central topics to entrepreneurship and is a critical step from which many theories of management, organizational behavior, and strategic management build. Therefore, this review and proposed research agenda are rele ...

A growing body of research indicates that the entrepreneur’s identity is core to our understanding of entrepreneurial processes and outcomes. Identity has gained in popularity over the course of the last decade, as entrepreneurship scholars have realized t ...

Social practices are well-known mediators in the adoption of educational innovations during professional learning, as postulated by the Knowledge Appropriation Model (KAM). However, understanding how teachers adopt new pedagogical approaches at scale is of ...

We design a suite of protocols so that a small tamper-resistant device can be used as a biometric identity document which can be scanned by authorized terminals. We target both strongly secure identification and strong privacy. Unlike biometric passports, ...

This article examines the powerful yet overlooked role of community-based enterprises (CBEs)-enterprises that are collectively established, owned, and controlled by the members of a local community, for which they aim to generate economic, social, and/or e ...

This is the first account of the history of our understanding of, and ability to model, solidification microstructures. Its objective is to retrace the scientific steps made, from the earliest observations of the eighteenth century to our present-day under ...

We construct and study supersymmetric extension of the Einstein-aether gravitational theory. Using superfield formalism we carry out unique linearized Lorentz violating supergravity action invariant under super-gauge transformations and obtain its bosonic ...

Teaching advisors work to sensitize teachers to use inclusive teaching pedagogy because it facilitates learning to all students and makes teachers aware of how the gender composition of a class and its management can promote or hamper student learning and ...

Organizing is a managerial process which demands a sense of purpose. When stories about "who we are" and "what we do" are salient and coherent (Voss, Cable & Voss, 2006), organizations can better plan, explain and justify collective action (Whetten & Macke ...

Research summaryEntrepreneurial behavior is core to our understanding of entrepreneurship. Yet, research progress is hindered because most studies adopt a traditional perspective of the construct that is embedded in economic rationality and focused on for- ...

This contribution puts the spotlight on participation of heterogeneous actors and diverse forms of expertise in knowledge production and its implications for governance of complex problems. With regard to tackling complex ‘global’ problems, multifaceted de ...

Social identity theory offers an important lens to improve understanding of founders as enterprising individuals, the venture creation process, and its outcomes. Yet, further advances are hindered by the lack of valid scales to measure founders' social ide ...

The architectural projects and building operations conducted over the past three decades by Patrick Bouchain and his collaborators challenge a series of assumptions regarding architecture’s authorship, its purpose and usage. Examined in light of Paul Ricoe ...

We prove the non-existence of expansive subgroups with trivial global core in different families of Roquette groups. This study is motivated by the importance of expansive subgroups in the theory of stabilizing bisets highlighted in [4]. ...

One fundamental issue with existing reputation systems, particularly those implemented in open and decentralized environments, is whitewashing attacks by opportunistic participants. If identities are cheap, it is beneficial for a rational provider to simpl ...

In the pursuit of ferroic-based (nano) electronics, it is essential to minutely control domain patterns and domain switching. The ability to control domain width, orientation and position is a prerequisite for circuitry based on fine domains. Here, we deve ...
