Emission Line Galaxies (ELGs) are one of the main tracers that the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) uses to probe the universe. However, they are afflicted by strong spurious correlations between target density and observing conditions known as ...

Context. The existence of planes of satellite galaxies has been identified as a long-standing challenge to ΛCDM cosmology because satellite systems in cosmological simulations that are as extremely flattened and as strongly kinematically correlated as the ...

Context. Empirical models of galaxy-halo connection such as the halo occupation distribution (HOD) model have been widely used over the past decades to intensively test perturbative models on quasi-linear scales. However, these models fail to reproduce the ...

A search is presented for high-mass exclusive diphoton production via photon-photon fusion in proton-proton collisions at root s = 13 TeV in events where both protons survive the interaction. The analysis utilizes data corresponding to an integrated lumino ...

Measurements of inclusive and normalized differential cross sections of the associated production of top quark-antiquark and bottom quark-antiquark pairs, t (t) over barb (b) over bar, are presented. The results are based on data from proton-proton collisi ...

The worldsheet axion plays a crucial role in the dynamics of the Yang-Mills confining flux tubes. According to the lattice measurements, its mass is of order the string tension and its coupling is close to a certain critical value. Using the S-matrix Boots ...

Spacecraft charging and electrostatic discharging (ESD) are prone to occur in harsh space environments. In particular, in the case of coupling strong electromagnetic field (EMF), ESD damages may occur at a low charging potential, posing a serious threat to ...

We study a finite, divergence-free approach to renormalisation originally proposed in the early '70s by Blaer and Young, and Callan. It is based on equations similar to the Callan-Symanzik equations and introduced in the context of the & lambda;& phi;4 the ...

Context. The third Gaia data release provides photometric time series covering 34 months for about 10 million stars. For many of those stars, a characterisation in Fourier space and their variability classification are also provided. This paper focuses on ...

The electronic structure of surfaces plays a key role in the properties of quantum devices. However, surfaces are also the most challenging to simulate and engineer. Here, the electronic structure of InAs(001), InAs(111), and InSb(110) surfaces is studied ...

We for the first time map the range of active-sterile neutrino mixing angles in which leptogenesis is possible in the type I seesaw model with three heavy neutrinos with Majorana masses between 50 MeV and 70 TeV, covering the entire experimentally accessib ...

In the present paper the "interface" dynamics in the case of two complex systems interaction, assimilated to fractal-type mathematical objects, are analyzed. In such context, fractal bistable-type behaviors as transitions in the scale space are obtained. O ...

The Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda+cK+K-pi(-) decay is observed for the first time using a data sample of proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of root s = 7 and 8 TeV collected by the LHCb detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3fb(- ...

The segregation of large intruders in an agitated granular system is of high practical relevance, yet the accurate modeling of the segregation (lift) force is challenging as a general formulation of a granular equivalent of a buoyancy force remains elusive ...
