A measurement of the dijet production cross section is reported based on proton–proton collision data collected in 2016 at s=13TeV by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of up to 36.3fb-1. Jets are reconstructed wi ...

Measurements of inclusive and normalized differential cross sections of the associated production of top quark-antiquark and bottom quark-antiquark pairs, t (t) over barb (b) over bar, are presented. The results are based on data from proton-proton collisi ...

We report on a measurement of the Λ+c to D0 production ratio in peripheral PbPb collisions at √ sNN = 5.02TeV with the LHCb detector in the forward rapidity region 2 < y < 4.5. The Λ+c (D0) hadrons are reconstructed via the decay channel Λ+c → pK−π+ (D0 → ...

The worldsheet axion plays a crucial role in the dynamics of the Yang-Mills confining flux tubes. According to the lattice measurements, its mass is of order the string tension and its coupling is close to a certain critical value. Using the S-matrix Boots ...

We study a finite, divergence-free approach to renormalisation originally proposed in the early '70s by Blaer and Young, and Callan. It is based on equations similar to the Callan-Symanzik equations and introduced in the context of the & lambda;& phi;4 the ...

We for the first time map the range of active-sterile neutrino mixing angles in which leptogenesis is possible in the type I seesaw model with three heavy neutrinos with Majorana masses between 50 MeV and 70 TeV, covering the entire experimentally accessib ...

The Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda+cK+K-pi(-) decay is observed for the first time using a data sample of proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of root s = 7 and 8 TeV collected by the LHCb detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3fb(- ...

We study the explosive production of gauge fields during axion inflation in a novel gradient expansion formalism that describes the time evolution of a set of bilinear electromagnetic functions in position space. Based on this formalism, we are able to sim ...

The SHiP experiment is proposed to search for very weakly interacting particles beyond the Standard Model which are produced in a 400 GeV/c proton beam dump at the CERN SPS. About 1011muons per spill will be produced in the dump. To design the experiment s ...

Systems of enhanced memory capacity are subjected to a universal effect of memory burden, which suppresses their decay. In this paper, we study a prototype model to show that memory burden can be overcome by rewriting stored quantum information from one se ...

In this work we discuss an analytic bootstrap approach [1, 2] in the context of spinning 4D conformal blocks [3, 4]. As an example we study the simplest spinning case, the scalar-fermion correlator. We find that to every pair of primary scalar phi and ferm ...

High-field accelerator magnets of the next generation will require coil grading in order to decrease the amount of superconductor and hence the magnet cost. The joints between Nb3Sn conductor grades must have low electrical resistance (

Machine learning is an important applied research area in particle physics, beginning with applications to high-level physics analysis in the 1990s and 2000s, followed by an explosion of applications in particle and event identification and reconstruction ...

Measurements of charm mixing and CP violation parameters from the decay-time-dependent ratio of D-0 -> K+pi(-) to D-0 -> K-pi(+) decay rates and the charge-conjugate ratio are reported. The analysis uses (B) over bar -> D*(+) mu X-, and charge-conjugate de ...
