Microwave superconducting resonators are extensively studied in fields such as quantum computing and electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy. However, the integration of superconducting resonators with feedback mechanisms to create ultra-low noise oscil ...

A key challenge for the development of fusion reactors based on magnetic confinement, such as tokamaks and stellarators, is the control of the turbulent processes. The most prominent feature of turbulence in the Scrape-Off Layer (SOL), the volume between t ...

The impact of the inner structure and thermal history of planets on their observable features, such as luminosity or magnetic field, crucially depends on the poorly known heat and charge transport properties of their internal layers. The thermal and electr ...

Sitting at the intersection of spintronics and thermoelectricity, research investigating the coupling of thermoelectric, magnetic, and electrical transport properties in materials has recently found that the ferromagnetic Heusler alloys are the ideal testb ...

Far-field measurements of lightning-produced electromagnetic fields are of high importance for lightning location systems. Data from recorded lightning strokes can be, for example, used to assess the risk of lightning-induced damage in some geographical ar ...

There once was a harsh competition between different computer memory technologies, and now we cheer triumph for the Random Access-Memory (RAM) devices, -- cheap, fast, tiny, stable. The competing Magnetic Bubble Memory had faded away as magnetic bubbles ar ...

We report angular-dependent spin-wave spectroscopy on kagome artificial spin ice made of large arrays of interconnected Ni80Fe20 nanobars. Spectra taken in saturated and disordered states exhibit a series of resonances with characteristic in-plane angular ...

As part of the recent efforts on renewable energies, energy harvesting by exploiting environmental motions and vibrations to generate electricity is being enthusiastically developed as a novel kind of green energy source. Piezoelectric materials are a logi ...

The proposed paper discusses a new methodology to monitor the B-H curve of magnetic fluids, which have low relative permeability. The set-up consists of a magnetic circuit which encloses a sample. A first coil allows creating a magnetic field into the samp ...

We report on spherical neutron polarimetry and unpolarized neutron diffraction in zero magnetic field as well as flipping ratio and static magnetization measurements in high magnetic fields on the multiferroic square lattice antiferromagnet Ba2CoGe2O7. We ...

Over the last decade, there has been a significant increase in the number of high-magnetic-field MRI magnets. However, the exact effect of a high magnetic field strength (B0 ) on diffusion-weighted MR signals is not yet fully understood. The goal of this s ...

This paper presents a new method based on the electromagnetic time-reversal (EMTR) theory for locating faults in power networks. The applicability of the EMTR technique to locate faults is first discussed. Using the classical transmission-line equations in ...

We show that correlated hopping of triplets, which is often the dominant source of kinetic energy in dimer-based frustrated quantum magnets, produces a remarkably strong tendency to form supersolid phases in a magnetic field. These phases are characterized ...

This paper presents an analysis of lightning return strokes to tall structures. The interaction of lightning with a tall structure is modeled using the antenna theory. The finite ground conductivity as well as the buried grounding system of the tall struct ...

This paper presents a quantitative comparison of the AC loss performance of two BSCCO and two YBCO conductors, characterized by the same self-field critical current of 150 A. In particular, compared are a 37-filamentary BSCCO tape, a 16-filamentary BSCCO s ...
