We propose a structured prediction approach for robot imitation learning from demonstrations. Among various tools for robot imitation learning, supervised learning has been observed to have a prominent role. Structured prediction is a form of supervised le ...

Transition metal-catalyzed C-H activation is a powerful tool for the synthesis of organic building blocks, materials, and natural products. Over the last decade, directing-group-assisted metal-catalyzed C-H functionalization has attracted increasing intere ...

Lignin is an abundant renewable carbon source. Due to its complex structure, utilization of lignin is very challenging. Herein, we describe an efficient strategy for the simultaneous utilization of lignin, in which the methoxy groups in lignin react with c ...

The direct construction of stereogenic axes by enantioselective C-H arylation has been regarded as a very challenging transformation. Very few examples have been reported, despite the indisputable straight-forwardness of the methodology. This is due to the ...

It is known that the pitchfork bifurcation of Kelvin-Helmholtz instability occurring at minimum gradient Richardson number Ri(m) similar or equal to 1/4 in viscous stratified shear flows can be subcritical or supercritical depending on the value of the Pra ...

The development of radical-based remote C(sp3)-H functionalizations of redox-active alcohol derivatives, oxidative cycloaddition and rearrangement transformations under visible light photocatalysis constitute the basis of this thesis. The first chapter des ...

Chiral cyclopentadienyl (Cpx) metal complexes have empowered the developement of challenging asymmetric C(sp2)-H activation transformations. However the preparation of competent atropchiral Cpx ligands is long and tedious. Moreover the range of application ...

C-C and C-N bonds are some of the most common structures in molecules ranging from drugs to catalysts and to food additives. Many coupling reactions were developed to form these types of bonds with excellent selectivity and good performance. Still, the syn ...

We explore upper bounds on the covering radius of non-hollow lattice polytopes. In particular, we conjecture a general upper bound of d/2 in dimension d, achieved by the "standard terminal simplices" and direct sums of them. We prove this conjecture up to ...

Chiral cyclopentadienyl (Cp-x) group 9 metal complexes have become versatile catalysts for a variety of efficient enantioselective C-H functionalizations. Atropchiral binaphthyl-derived Cp-x ligands having tuning options at the 3,3'-positions present a rob ...

Organic chemistry is essential for the development of a modern society and technical progress requires the continuous development of synthetic methodologies Novel, efficient, selective and flexible protocols are employed to access complex frameworks from s ...

The performance of rhodium complex [Cp*Rh(bis(pyrazol-1-yl)methane)Cl]Cl was evaluated for formic acid dehydrogenation in aqueous solution. Solid-state X-ray diffraction helped to confirm the catalyst structure. Multinuclear NMR spectroscopy was employed t ...

We report the first decarboxylative alkynylation of the C-terminus of peptides starting from free carboxylic acids. The reaction is fast, metal-free, and proceeds cleanly to afford alkynylated peptides with a broad tolerance for the C-terminal amino acid. ...

Sulfoximines with stereogenic sulfur atoms are attractive structural motifs in drug discovery. A direct catalytic enantioselective method for the synthesis of sulfur-chiral 1,2-benzothiazines from readily accessible diaryl sulfoximines is presented. Rhodiu ...

As technology advances, surface coatings become more and more important to assure materials performances. In recent years, molecular coatings have found larger acceptance and uses. Among them, self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) are attractive because they ar ...

Splines come in a variety of flavors that can be characterized in terms of some differential operator L. The simplest piecewise-constant model corresponds to the derivative operator. Likewise, one can extend the traditional notion of total variation by con ...

A multifiltration is a functor indexed by Nr that maps any morphism to a monomorphism. The goal of this paper is to describe in an explicit and combinatorial way the natural Nr-graded R[x(1),...x(r)]-module structure on the homology of a multifiltration of ...

Let R be a unital commutative ring, and let M be an R-module that is generated by k elements but not less. Let be the subgroup of generated by the elementary matrices. In this paper we study the action of by matrix multiplication on the set of unimodular r ...

We propose and analyse a new discontinuous reduced basis element method for the approximation of parametrized elliptic PDEs in partitioned domains. The method is built upon an offline stage (parameter independent) and an online (parameter dependent) one. I ...

Transition-metal catalyzed C-H functionalizations have impacted and changed synthetic approaches towards the construction of relevant complex molecules, comprising natural products, active pharmaceutical ingredients, and organic materials. This thesis desc ...
